I have a couple of questions about installing the OS18TM in my Revo.

First off I have installed the engine with the carb in its stock orientation. My problem is that the idle screw is very hard to get to. It is rotated very close to the head.

I another site I have heard people using the outer mounting hole for the servo horn. If move the mounting of the horn to the outer horn will this allow me to rotate the carb so the idle screw is more accessable?

I ask this before performing the task since there is so much involved. I will be making this change once I receive my jump start starter since at that time I will be dis-assembling the hole truck to check the diffs, shock oil, add a few Ti parts etc.

Thank you for your input,
Keith

Yeah you can rotate the carb 180 degrees. O.S. packs the engines that way as a safety thing to prevent damage to the idle adjustment screw.

you can rotate the carb to suit your needs. I think I rotated mine about 8 degrees or so. I used the outer mounting hole for the throttle servo horn. In my case I had to remove a small amount of material from the opening at the rear of the servo box and a small section of the rib on the inside of the roll bar/handle. This allowed smooth operation of the throttle wire. If you still have the EZ start on board you may find it challenging to locate the throttle horn in the outside position.

Good luck

I do have the ez start at this time. I have a jump start on the way and I think I will be making this mod after I receive the jump start based on what you have indicated. I am hoping next weekend is spent installing several upgrades to my Revo and then going out to Bash. Just received a set of Hurrcain wheels from Traxxas and also purchased a set from my LHS today (before I knew the Traxxas ones arrived). I think I will now purchase a set of Panther Pythons for the second set, Response are on the first.

Sounds good. You can also replace the stock bushings on the throttle servo horn with ball bearings. This mod takes the slop out of the servo horn for better throttle response. This mod requires two 5x8mm ball bearings http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000666057&I=LXJJ38&P=K

The "servo horn" is the black plastic part that attaches to the motor and actuates the carburator. I don't know why they call it a servo horn... Misleading.

Tirider,

When I first installed the OS18TM I installed the bearings. My jumpstart will be here tomorrow 5/19. Will spend Friday afternoon installing all additional mods.

Thank you for the tip.

I'm not trying to nit-pick, but is'nt that the throttle linkage? I thought the horn was the part that fits directly on the spline shaft on the servo.

hey klw your in houston area right??

Yes, I am 20 miles south of Houston in Brazoria County. do not know if I will have time to run this weekend or not. I hope to spend the free time I do have moding my REVO. I should be receiving serveral parts today.

I thought I was going to have to rebuild my diffs as it looked like they were leaking. Took the front one out but it was not the diff that was leaking at all. What I found out was Traxxas packs tons of gear grease in the the case it some of the grease was seeping out onto the axels not the diff oil. Saves me a buch of work as I do not have to remove the rear one.

FASTEDDY: Thanks!

BASHAHOLIC: I've heard it referred to as a servo horn but i found it misleading. I like your terminology "throttle linkage" much better. Maybe the people I heard it from were just confused and I furthered that mistake. Thanks!
