Well 2:30 am and here I am staring at RCNT trying to get myself silly tired so I crash, laying in bed thinking just bites.

Whenever I get stressed my mind just doesn't shut down when I got to bed.

My youngest son had a siezure the other night (out of the blue) Kinda threw us for a loop. Ever since I been going to sleep fine , but the slightest noise, and I'm up watching him for an hour. With three kids and three dogs there's always a noise heheh..

Even tho the doc says he's fine and it's a fluke I feel like somone kicked me in the groin every time I hear a rustle.

Anyone else sit and stare at the ceiling when they're stressed? I think I need my wife to :whack: with a stick so I

I feel you. Especially right before we go to do a mission (Marine Corps) Your nerves are on edge! The high keeps you up for days!

Woody

My sons seizure was a freak event (we all hope). Sound like you are headed out to combat.

You have my families best thoughts and prayers man. I have the utmost respect for our military personell. May all your missions succeed

Well, I'm done with that for a while at least. Presently negotiating for orders. Trying to get San Antonio. I'm in the medical field(Navy), which provides medical coverage for the Marines on the front line. I have dealt with patients who have like grand mal seizures, which is the worst. I know, that it is upsetting. They do have medication to control the seizure activity. I think it's phenobarbital, but there are more out there. I deal mostly with emergency medicine. God bless your family. Thank you for the kind words! I really enjoy the military, and would'nt have it any other way!

Woody:bored:

Grand mal, thats fully involved correct? We were ok with handlng the seizure but when he turned blue we got worried. Bad worried heh. He seized for about 20 minutes, then it took him about 15-20 to come to and realize where he was.

Any tips on how to care for osomone when they are in that condition? They gave us some meds that work quickly incase it happens again. praying that it won;t but learning as much as we can in case it does.

Good look on your new orders!

Yeah, soem tips would be to make sure that when he is seizing, to make sure that he does'nt hurt himself. When I say this, I mean to move things out of the way. To remain calm! (I know its hard) Not much you can do, when he is in that state! Make sure that he always has an airway. He probably turned blue, due to the amount of strain placed on the body. Kind of like whne weight lifters lift something real heavy, the get red in the face. Well imagine your son lifting that same amount of wieght for like 20 minutes. Kind of a weird analogy, but thats the best explanation. What kind of medication did they give you to releive the symptoms quiclky?? Ammonia inhalants?? Haldol?? Just curious. Yes, Grand Mal is fully involved! Those are patients that have like chemical inbalances, etc. problems. Hope this helps. Remember, airway! You might want to take a CPR course through the American red cross. JUst my two cents. Take care!

Woody:normal:

I was a high steel construction superintendant for five years so advanced CPR was mandantory for me once a year. The airway seems to make alot of sense, that and clearing the area, he was like a pissed off shark out of water. I

'm not sure of the chemical name, let me look Daizepam.. the delivrey is the same way you take a caninne's temp eeew... but it's suppose to work fast.

The ER doc didn't tell us a whole lot and the we don't see neuro until two weeks from now.

Diazepam! Yeah, thats another one that we can use. And, yes rectally has a faster absorption rate than orally. Cool, about the CPR thing. I can imagine what he looked like. We had an inpatient ward at one of the hospitals I worked at that had patients with seizures, so I saw it several times. I thought when you told me they gave you a medication, it would have been something he inhaled. Guess not?? I imagine they will do a cat scan, if they did'nt already do one from the ER. They will probably do an MRI at the nuerology clinic. I better get to bed, the wife is bugging me. Take care, and again wishing you and your family the best! Take him out soon to bash!

Lykan, Sorry to hear anout your troubles, it's just one of those dips in life and I'm sure you and your son will be fine.

AS far as imsomnia, posting a like 4:00a.m suck. It's 7:21 here and I've bene up since like 5:30 just thinking about how much i need sleep and how much i hate school.

If something I'm looking forward too, or somethign exciting is coming up real soon or just something diffrent it throws my sleep out the window. I just stay up and contiplate everything under the sun. Mostly how to do thigns I know is impossible

Anyone ever notice, thigns always seem easier when your thinking in bed. Yeah, I'm gonna kick flip that gap tommorrow...tommorrow rolls around and your sitting there going "what kind of drugs was I taking last night"

Sorry about the homefront. At least you've gotten a taste of the sleeping problem I've been having for 6 months of so. I've been unable to quiet my mind to sleep normally. I finally was prescribed some sleeping meds from the doctor which can put me out for a few hours at best but I always do wake up at the slightest sound. There's nothing more than I would love to get a full night's sleep.

just smoke a bowl before you go to bed, I sleep every night until the alarm wakes me up, if I don't I am with you guys and the my mind keeps chugging.

Thanks guys for all the concern guys, it means a lot to me that I am not the only one. WL, you hit the nail on the head.. anything good or bad i have to think about and I'm awake all night. Jumping at every sound.

(i.e.)3 years ago our car was broken into, ever since the slightest noise outside, and I'm stalking the cars through the window, 32 in hand.

HB, you know I tried that about a year ago.. I said o.k. Enough of this.. I see how the neighbors work. So I had the neighbor get me a big old sack. I smoked religiously once a night, the damned good stuff too. All I ended up with was a huge case of munchies, then about 3 hours of paranoia. After a week, I figured it wasn't working.. heh that's how desperate I got.

On a cool note, I can't get my doctor to call me back within a week. My wifes doctor somehow got wind of what happened to my son. We didn't call him.

His doctor called this morning in person to offer any and all services he has at his disposal. He said he would find the best specialist and take care of any needs that weren't being met by other docs.

Not too often you have a doctor that's willing to call your house in person, especially on their own accord o offer you anything let alone help lol.

Lykan, sorry to hear about your son. That would keep me on edge also. As for the insomnia? I don't know how to help you on that. I'm a night owl myself but that's mostly because of work. My work comes in after 5-6 pm then I can be working till way passed midnight. I don't have to be up till 1 pm so I can sleep.

When I can't sleep it's mostly becuase of work. I'm still pumped from work and the mind is wandering. Those are the nights my wife really doesn't look forward to because the tv is on and my hand is wandering ;) . Then we are both awake for a while :hump: but afterwards, I can sleep.

Diver what exactly do you do for a living?

You talk about having sex with your wife alot. I'm just 16 but I hear marriage = no sex, so that leaves me with the idea that you two are newly weds or under 5 years, lol.

Hey Lykan - It sounds like you need some uuuh Norther Cali medical herb my man.

Insomina and Stress can be killers and I know from experience.

Well, we are under 2 years. It'll be 3 years this June 1st. As far as what I do for a living, I'm involved with the family business. Surgical instrument repair. Hospitals basically give work after the day is done and on weekends.

As far as marriage=no sex, that's a myth ... at least in our case, so far. Granted, we're not the rabbits we used to be but it's a regular occurance. Just gotta keep it interesting. :naughty:

LOL BRO...Exactly..

Wasteland - You crack me up dude. "Marriage='s no sex". Some pepole experince this. People get married for a plehtora of reasons good and bad. Allot of people get married because the sex is good (some of my buds). I have friends that are having better sex after 10 years of marriage then they where in the begining. It's all relative but it helps if you actually love eachother and have your chit together..lol.

Marrige=no sex.. I suppose that's true depending on the relationship. My wife and I are soo close and such good friends 90% of the time we play around like we did when we first got together, we smile joke laugh wrestle the whole bit.

We both were married previously, both terrible relationships. When my wife and I got married it was because we were best friends, period. It makes everything else 100 times better.

Married on it' worst day for me is 100% better than when I was playing the field and bar hopping.

If you marry the right person for the right reasons, you'll be + one best friend, and feel better about yourself than you ever could imagine.

It's the same here for me. I married my best friend. We can still talk for hours and not get tired of each other. Granted, there are still some spats be it because of me tinkering with my r/c's, 1:1's or other past times but those are generally my fault. I can spend hours on my "toys" and it just worries her when I do all of it and actually forget to eat or completely forget about my own responsibilities in the house. Besides that, we share a lot of common likes. She loves to go fishing with me (she will get down and dirty with the best of us fisherman), wants an r/c of her own and loves cars the way I do. I just won't let her drive mine and she has no interest in driving them. She's doesn't want to be held responsible for even a scratch on it.

It's an on going relationship that still has to be nurtured, emotionally and physically. Just as Lykan said, I would rather be with my wife on the worst day than be running around single on my best day.

BTW, this thread has been officially highjacked.
