So to celebrate my hard earned income tax rebate, i decided that i was going to only spend around $1,000 of it. I was going to buy a new TV, and a RC4WD sandrail chassis to build.

Went out and bought a 46in Sony LCD (1080p, 4hdmi, one usb, few component inputs) for around $750.

Well........... ended up that my department changed their policy on which ammunition that we are allowed to carry for our AR-15's. So I had to go out and replace all of my 500 rds of FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) that i carry in my patrol vehicle, with HP (Hollow Point). Went to a local gun place (way too expensive) and to Academy Sports (only crappy cheap ammo that F's up guns) and finally had to drive out to Cabela's about 20 minutes away. walked out with bout 300 rds of .223 HP rounds ($250) and...........

So much for a chassis....... :hehe:

Wow you're going from FMJ's to hollow points. If I understand it correctly, they should have more stopping power.

Congrats on the TV, that's about the only thing of the above mentioned I have any knowledge about.

First congrats on the new TV!!!!!

Second WTF!!!!!!! your department makes you buy your own ammo for your guns, Sorry that just doesn't sound right, so tell me if you have to use the ammo, in the line of duty of course, do they at least replace it?

I know where I live the ammo is all provided by the department they work for.

And the new sight sound cool, but we need a pic of them mounted on the gun.:D

Lol. There is more stopping power. But less impact range. By that I mean like say one needs to shoot at a target is standing behind an object (window, Sheetrock), or body armor that a suspect is wearing. When the hollow point travels through said object it morphs it's physical shape, and severely changes it's speed and stopping power. Each has it's pros and cons. The fmj will keep much more of it's stopping power going through objects because it keeps it's aerodynamic shape.

Eotech is one of the top two tactical sighting systems for rifles and shotguns. The other being acog. Picked mine up for just over $400.

The department issues ammunition for issued weapons. (pistols and shotguns.)

Here ya go.

Even my puppy liked it.

Killer sights, much better than a sand rail chassis IMO!

Congrats on the TV, and especially the EO tech Alpine. Let us know how you like it. I really wanted to do an AR build with my taxes this year, but it just wasn't in the cards.

HAHA thanks guys. I got to go "get rid" of all that FMJ ammo. Still gotta go sight in the new optics but only range that is open only goes up to 30 yards...... that wont do much for me right now. Its pretty sweet. A little wide for the skinny weapon, but it works really well, and is not too heavy. I have my scope on the carry handle in my trunk, so if i need to go for any ranged target, in a bout 30 seconds can go from eotech, to the ranged scope.

Hey Alpine, I meant to ask, can you do co-witness with the EO tech if the battery were to die on you? Just curious, as I'm still doing an AR someday, and just squirreling away info.

If by co-access you mean iron sights, then only the front. I thought about removing the front sight and going with a lo-pro gas block, but the sight picture on the eotech shows up right over the front sight.

Another good thing about this one, is it uses two AA batteries, and i keep a 4 pack in my LBV along with 6 extra mags, shotgun holster across the back, and 10 shotgun shells, (5 slug, 5 buck)

Yep, that's exactly what I meant Alpine, thanks for the info. The other optic I have in mind uses AA's also, which I looked into for just that reason. It's the Lucid HD7 I believe. Nice weapon BTW!

I am debating on pushing it forward an inch or two and getting a flip up rear iron sight.

That lucid looks like a nice sight, but wouldnt be practical for quick moving drills/combat situations IMO. With the eotech it has a great sized viewing window and will always remain on target no matter what angle you are looking through. It takes a little getting used to, but the more i play with it, the better it looks. Another great thing bout the eotech, if anything happens to the viewing window, (mud, dirt, damage) the sight will automatically move in the window and adjust itself on target.
