ok i instaled my picco .26 ran through the breakin.but when i fine tuned it there was hb clutch shavings everywere.my 3 shoe clutch is not in from tower yet.does this mean????????????????? at first it was popping then slow take off with high rpm.i looked at the clutch it's not in that bad of shape.

I have heard that the HB clutches do not hold up very good esp. with the Picco 26. I have the 3 shoe mugen, and it is holding up very well so far.
 
well i have a set of aluminum clutches but i was warned about using them by my so called LHS its about 65 miles away.
 
Damn, I have a HB Lightning Pro and the engine is from the savage. I'm guessing the shoes are from HB. I just put a 2.7 HP (same as the picco .26) racing engine in it. I bet I'll be in the market for new clutch shoes too. :(
 
has anyone herd aneything bad about alumnium shoes?and rob if you have the ones in attachment you might be.
 
I heard they wear faster and are more expensive. I think they are for racing because of the weight factor(lighter)
 
True that, I'd try em out for sure if I was you. I feel your pain with having to drive a long ways for LHS. Closest LHS to me is 1hr 15min away:angry:
 
I'm only heard good things about aluminum shoes. I hear they ingauge faster. I don't know about wear.
 
well i don't know about wear but they sure hookup.100% change i had to loosen slipper to keep from flipping over.
 
it doesn't say anything about fitting on a savage, how do i know it will fit on it?
 
The motor is universal, (not specifically made for the Savage), and this combo fits all .15 - .21 size mills....
 
the engine i'm putting on it is a .26 in a .21 shell (i'd have to assume) the reason i'm kinda skeptical about it cuz i have a ofna 3shoe flywheel that when you put it on the picco's shaft isn't long enough. and it's made for .21's





do they make a spacer that goes on top of the shaft that goes in between the berring? i hope you know what i'm talking about, i'm trying to make the shaft longer if that's possible.

That flywheel should work. The only thing that should be a gainst the bearing is the brass cone shaped deal that the flywheel sits on. (If you're talking about the bearing on the frnt of the engine) Have you tried putting everything on and tightening up the flywheel nut? Any Pics would help too.
 
i will explain,i put my other set on so can't show w/ photo

were you put the screw,it is inset not flush or sticking out.thats with no shims on inside.the clutch bars hit on the bell. when i put shims on inside it is inset even more.that's why i'm woundering if there is shims to make the shaft longer.
 
If you run the aluminum clutch shoes I would definitly run a vented cluch bell for cooling. Ofna makes them but you will need a Ofna shim kit to make them fit.

If you havnt already tried the brass cone shaped collet off the stocker, try that. When I installed my mugen flywheel, the collet that it came with made the flywheel sit too far away from the block. So try the stock brass collet, it makes the flywheel sit closer to the block giving you more space on the crankshaft.
 
i don't know were stock collet went i put it up but don't know were.I'm going to houston tomorrow to get one.


has any one herd about over heating trouble on picco?
i read a few other places last night and there is alot of people having this trouble.i havent ran mine enough to know.:OT:
