I'm thinking about getting a Savage 4.6

I can't believe I'm considering this truck...I wanted another Revo but something about that 4.6 is drawing me in. I know very little about the Savage, I had a SS 25 for about two weeks then sold it. Everything I have seen about the 4.6 looks pretty good, are there any bad points that I should know about before I buy? If I get it I will install the roto start ( I hate pulling )and thinking of putting a 3 speed in there, any problems with those?

Any tips/advise is welcome.
Thanks

what was the reason you sold the SS 25 sp quick? doesn't sound like its the truck for you...

The only real complaint I have with my 3 speed is you have to dismantle it to change 1-2...2-3 is done the normal way tho.

Yeah why did you sell the savage 25?

Id say the revo was the one for you then...I personally don't think Savages are about speed (although they can be turned into that), more about bashing and having fun with.

The 4.6 will be faster tho of cause, but I'd recommend having a look at one running first before you waste the money if its not what you want.

Well if its a matter of speed My modded 25 will give the 4.6 something to run for. A new mill can always remedy that. If you want something different I would try a REVO out myself. I on the other hand love my savage. What else did you not like? Did you break in the engine properly?

I have both, a Revo with an OS .18TM and the Savage 4.6 I bought from Zandor. I truly do like them both just about equally, but for different reasons. I have FLAT OUT PUNISHED that Savage, and that thing just smiles and asks for more! The Revo can handle it as well, now, but I had to really stiffen it up. As you already have a Revo, get the Savage 4.6, man. You won't be disappointed! Oh, I have the three-speed for it, but it's a winter project, so I can't say how it runs with a 3-speed, but I'm itching to try!

I don't race at a track but I like a fast rc. The 4.6 claims 44 mph, that's noticeably faster than the ss 25. Add the 3 speed and it should be hard to handle. I will use it to bash with a few friends. I want raw power and it has to be faster than the Revo. I don't care that it won't handle as well. I've been reading up on it a little more and Monkey Wrench says I won't be disappointed so, I think I'm going to try it out.

Mugen MTX-2 I would love to see one run, but not many people around here run rc's and I have only seen 1 that runs a Savage.

Jon2 The engine was broke in to the letter, it ran great and was very easy to tune, but it couldn't run with my Maxx.

Thanks for the input, I'll keep you posted

Mine has the 3 speed and 47/18 gearing with a SH 28 in it and its definatly faster then my friends Revo...although his is stock.

I'm actually going to lower the gearing myself just because the rear of the truck starts wobbling when I'm going full tilt!! I'm sure thats just the tires that come with it tho (4.6 has different ones)

If you want it to just bash around with some friends then you can't beat it I think.

What kind of speed did the 3 speed add?
