Oily residue from the exhaust is completely normal; although if there is a lot of it then the engine might be running rich (unburnt fuel).

The carb settings on a new engine are rich. Until you lean it out it will be pretty oily. If you lean it out and it is still really oily, you could get an exhaust deflector.
