This is going up for auction at the BarretJackson auction in January in Scottsdale, AZ.

http://autos.aol.com/article/hearse-that-carried-jfk-heads-to-auction/

I would buy this in a heart beat due to the historical aspect of the vehicle and I'm sure it's still stock from the first day. Unfortunatly it's probably going to go to some snoody collector where it will stay in some collection and never seen again. What someone should do it purchase this and then donate it to the smithsonian.

Be interesting to see how much it goes for.

It would not surprise me if it fetches a mill being that BarretJackson is selling it.

Some incorrect info in that article...

The sale follows the 2011 auction of the ambulance used to transport President Kennedy's body from Air Force One to Bethesda Naval Hospital.
(That hospital is in Maryland, near DC.)

The hearse was built by the Miller-Meteor Company in 1963 and was purchased by the O'Neal Funeral Home in Dallas shortly after.
(Where he was shot)

The Hearse then transported the President's body to Love Field, where it was loaded onto Air Force One.
(Love field is the Dallas Airport)
(The hearse did NOT travel on the plane)

I think it will still bring some serious cash. Who even thought that piece of history still existed?

I had no idea. With just about every car from that era, they're either been destroyed or have been restored. Usually they've been destroyed by teenagers in those days.

Honestly.. i dont think i would ever by a hearse...plus i actually think it would be right for it to go to a collector and sit in a nice climate controlled toy room and be healthy because i dont think anyone would really drive it since its such a collectors item.

Overall.. classy yet not something i would be looking for.

It looks to be in great shape and appears to be original. I'm sure it will go for big bucks if it sells. It would be nice to be in a collection that is available for public viewing.

I would be almost certain that it will either be purchased by, or donated to a museum.
Anyone willing to lay out the coin that it will probably go for would never turn it into a daily driver.

Great man can never be forgotten by the people. Of course nobody would forget the day when one of the great men of United States was killed. A sober symbol of American history drives up to the auction block in Jan. A hobbyist with the right bid should be able to drive home in the hearse that held the body of John F. Kennedy to Love Field right after his assassination in Dallas in 1963. Source for this article: JFK hearse to go on auction block in January
