I have an RC10 with an .12os recently installed. Without the engine running the carb opening looks good. When I start it up it is running hot and, wants to take off. When I pick the back wheels off the ground they spin pretty good. As I richen up the low speed to reduce the temp, will that also fix my take off problem? Or does the throttle trim also need to be adjusted? If so, which issue do I address first. Thanks

Well, check the throttle opening, it should be about the thickness of a credit card when closed. Afer that, check the throttle trim. If this engine is still new and has to be broken in, double check the needles to make sure they're at factory setting. I believe the LSN is supposed to be flush with the housng and the HSN should be 2 turns out from fully closed. Also, check your fuel lines for air leaks. That would cause the engine to run lean.

Use the the idle screw on the engine to adjust the idle speed, not the throttle trim on your radio. There is a difference.

That's what I said, check the throttle opening, Then check the throttle trim. I just forgot to say that the idle screw is what regulates the opening ... my bad for not being specific.

Thanks for the help. I sat down and really looked at how the carb works this past weekend and it helped alot. I had been confusing the idle screw with the low speed needle. :ponder: I am so smat. I mean smart.
