Idle Temp

Idling serves no purpose in break-in unless its winter out or something. Unless you get your temps. at or above 190 Degrees F, its not really breaking in. In order to break in(As I understand), you need to get your temps. up to at least 190 Degrees to allow the Tapered Cylinder to expand just enough to allow the piston to fit through.

Hope this helps,
Todd

P.S. Don't forget to use Marval Mystery Oil as After Run Oil! :loser:

Idling should only be used in between run times. Even during break in. Mind you, I'm not saying you should be running wide open throttle for the first few tanks but give it some throttle to get it moving.

And yes 200 degrees F is the target during break-in

well good, i idled 2 tanks and it ran at about 190-200, then i slowly just drove it around and got it max up to 218. ill do that 2-3 more times, also should i see much smoke running at 220, i saw very little.

Generally you want to be at 200-215 F on an average run. Anything lower than that will be dangerous for break in or operating temps.

While we're at temps, Ofna says that .12 - .18 engines run at temps of about 250 Degrees F and .21 & up run cooler - 200 Degrees F. Is this true? If so then I'm on the mark, if not, then I'm way cold( I get up to about 215 )

I would say it is true, given you have an Ofna engine. I can't see Ofna having a compelling reason to lie.

Ah, just messing with ya Spit! I think you're good to go, and any engine will run a bit different depending on where you run, the ambient temperature that day, etc. You know all that, so it's not like I'm telling you anything new. Typically, I tune by sound and performance, make sure I'm getting enough smoke and make sure my temps don't get above 270 for any extended amount of time.
