hey guys i got a problem. my XTM 24.7 idles like crap. now i know that everybody is going to say "turn the idle screw or the lsn". well that is the problem. i have no idea what is with my idle screw cause it is in all the way, and when i turn it out it still dont do anything! and if i turn my lsn any leaner my engine just runs worth crap. so now when i run my truck i have to run with my throttle trim up and when i hit the breaks it dies. can anybody help me?????

bryan

You may be trying to set the idle with the throttle trim turned too high. The trim may be holding the carb open even when you're adjusting the screw. Try to adjust the idle while holding the brakes lightly. That way you know there is no forward tension on the throttle linkage pulling the carb open.

well, i am not sure that it is fixed or not yet. my glow plug died on me so i can't start the truck. could an almost dead glow plug mess with the idle?

bryan

Can do, especially if a warm engine falters (or even dies) when the glow ignitor is withdrawn.

Idle Screw: I always set it with no radio on. First I do it by eye to get it going. Ensuring the slide (in my case) is held against the screw head (as the server should do). Then I set it to highest rpm before clutch engages even the slightest. If then by switching on radio I get any change I reckon I've got a server/linkage adjustment issue.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

i know how to set an idle and all of that. but with this engine it is wierd. if i put the lsn in too far to where it idles, then the engine just dies. so when i back it out some it takes idle away. the idle screw on this engine does a whole bunch of nothing. u can turn it all the way out and then turn it all the way in and it barley even moves.

24.7

hey bro, wazzzz up. If you look at the slide when turning in the lsn you'll see the lsn actually opens the slide if you go to far in. Go back to where you were when it was running good or try my settings---9 1/2 lsn & 4 1/2 on the hsn. That may sound nuts but mine runs & starts great

ya that is where i had mine, but at 9 1/2 my lsn would fall out! so i put it in to like 7 1/2 and it worked pretty good just no idle. i will take it and try it again, i think my hsn is at like 3 so i will change that.

I took my 24.7 out today, the first time in a month (been foolin with the Dud Demon) anyway it ran like crap so investigating the lsnv o-ring was shot & the needle was walking its out so i tried to make an o-ring outa some fuel line. The line i bought at the lhs was to big (outside dia.) wouldn't fit but I had some of the cheap fuel line that comes with the truck. The inside is the same but the outer dia. is smaller, works like a charm on the lsnv. Keeps the needle snug even when its out 12 turns. Used the same on the idle needle. the hsnv has a bigger o-ring & mines fine but I believe the larger outside dia. fuel line will work on that if I need. put a smigun of grease on the home made o-ring so it slides in easier & watch it as it goes in to see if its trying to push itself out. After the fix I had to bring the hsnv in to 3 1/2 turns from 4 1/2 cause it was bogging when i snapped the throtle & spitting to much oil out. The lsnv stayed pretty much as it was at 9 1/2 out, I think its now at 9 1/4. Hope this works for ya, look around for the cheap factory fuel line. I kept mine (12") (cut the line no more or less than the width of the place it goes on the needle-with a new axacto blade, it has to be a straight cut
