When I’m setting my idle screw I almost need to close up the carburetor all the way… If I don’t the truck will move forward it doesn’t sound as if the engine is running at to low of an RPM when I close the carb up that much… I was just wondering if that was bad? Because in the book and came with the “mill” engine for you that aren’t down with the hip lingo that christen uses it says that the carb should be about 2mm open? But when it’s that far open the truck moves forward. Am I at risk of over heating my engine? It also seems that I have to run a little rich on the HSN its about 3.5 from close. What’s the deal…… I’m worried about the idle HELP ME GUYS

OK, first, do you have a temp gauge? IF yes then keep an eye on things while you try different settings. I would first try it with the idle set the way you have it, I have found that the lower you can turn down the idle, and still run smooth, the better you are in tune.

Does the truck actually move forward or does it just 'want to' ?

You may also have either your High needle too lean. The low should be fine if you didnt touch it. If you did. You might want to turn it counterclockwise about a 16th of a turn. If either one of these needles is too lean you will have a hard time setting your idle.

And it is ok to close the carb a hair more if need be.

How many tanks do you have through that "mill" ?

Temp should be around 225 maximum. Thats what mine is running at just fine.

Oh, maybe even loosen the slipper a tad.

275 after a haulin ass wide open throttle run is ok too.

I'm almost done with my first gallon I've never touched any needle but the HSN the slopper is I think to slippy and the truck wants to move foward and some time does

LOL slopper that was a type-o

A little bit of it wanting to 'crawl' is ok. This is what makes a 'forward only' tranny a sweet setup. So when you punch the gas it just gets up and goes! You can try to loosen the slipper nut a little too. Not too much though.

Slopper hehehe, I gotta use that one.
