Good afternoon everyone.

I’m new to the hobby and picked up a T-maxx recently; being that this would be my first jump into the hobby I wasn’t ready to drop over $400 into a truck. This does bring up the problem of knowing exactly what bought.

What I know:
It’s not an extended chassis (12” hub to hub)
There is an oval cutout under the muffler
The motor is a RB TM323
Control arms are of a newer style, the truck is nearly 17” across.

From looking around this site, I am thinking that this is an “older” (1.5 pro?) Tmaxx that has had a motor swap (obviously) but also had the transmission and radio receiver upgraded and maybe the control arms. The radio is still an AM system, so it’s not all that new. The drive shafts and half shafts all have u-joints, but do not have blue covers over them, so I am assuming that these have not been upgraded to the 3.3 units.

Before I break something, I was hoping to find out what chassis model I have and identify other characteristics of my truck so that I don’t order the wrong replacement parts.

Would parts off the new 4910 T-maxx Classic fit my truck?

Also, a side question. Could I use BreakFree CLP as my after run oil? It’s what I use to clean/lube/protect my other hobby.

This thread answered most my questions, but I am kind of looking for confirmation.

Thank you for your help everyone.

Your pics aren't quite good enough to know for sure, but it's got some parts off other models anyway. It mostly resembles a 4909 in it's current state, but could also be a 4910 with a 3.3 transmission. Yep, that's right, it's a frankenstein!
Considering the trans has reverse, I'd say it's a trans from the 4902 (2.5r) or 4909 (3.3) maxx, and not from a 4908 or 4907. If that's the case then it should have a 5mm output shaft instead of the newer 6mm.

That's, special; the pics are normal size, but the link only takes you to the thumbnail.

I'll try and figure out what the issue with the pics are.

Thank you again for your help.

Edit:
Edited the link type in the original post and the pictures are normal size now.

If there is anything specific you'd like a close up of, please let me know.

Thank you.

Just curious - What kind of tires are those? I like the "scoop" type shape

Unfortunately, there are no names or part number on the sidewalls. If I run across them on the web, I'll let you know.

Looks like its been taken care of, what ever model it is.....Nice Lookin Rig!!

Thanks, can't wait to take it out. Already dark by the time I get home from work.

Daylight savings time Soon approaching!!:D

I would consider it a 4910 with a 4909 transmission, but you have to check the size of the output shaft to confirm that.
Some 4910s have the gray rx box and chassis braces etc.
If none of your shafts have blue boots then the 4910 shafts, carriers, and toe links will all work. You should also look into the diffs, they may have been upgraded to sealed revo-spec diffs.

I'll need to pull off a drive shaft to find the diameter of the output shaft, correct?

Aside from pulling the diffs out and separating the halves, is there an easy way to tell the difference between a sealed and non-sealed unit?

Thank you again.

Got a better pic of the underside of the trany?

Center (5mm trany, 6mm diff) shafts like these came on 4910/4909.

Center shafts like these are 6mm revo spec.

Can't find the right battery box

I picked up a used tmaxx off ebay and the only things broken are the reciever and battery boxes. I don't know what model this truck is, but the battery box i bought isn't the same as what's in the truck now. The original box has the switch on the top and is about 2 1/2" long, as compared to the new box that is over 3" long. Does anyone know where to get the correct box or do i have to modify the new one to fit? Any help would be great

Also, this truck has a silver chassis. 2.5 motor with blue head, 2 speed trans. With no reverse (not sure if it's a foc), i got it with a 2ch. Smartech radio if that helps.
