Ok, so here is the story.
I have a RS4 2. It is the same one that was talked about in this post: https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=567458#post567458
....So anyhow, we've got this thing tuned out perfectly, running great. I decide to break it out at my friends apartment complex because the maintenance crew is gathered by their office. So, i started it up, and ran it 2 or 3 passes to warm it up. Then i started to pull out some really nice doughnuts. The rear was swinging around so nicely and all, and i was definately showing off. then i raced it by the guys, and came back and turned the wheel to jump back into doughnuts, and the battery pack fell out. I know you all know what happened next. the thing went like 35 mph straight for a pole that was supporting the carport and nailed it. I could feel the impact like i was in the car. then it flipped over, and luckily, stopped running. I walked over to it all non-chalant like, and kinda smirked at the crowd of spectators, which had now grown, considering the sound of the nitro engine. One of the maintenance guys yelled, "I think you broke the tire". I bent over to pick it up and replied, "aww man, its all good, fix it in no time." Inside i was crying. Needless to say, i just finished the re-build of the front suspension, front and rear diff's, belts, and rims. I plan on getting it back on the road today. Oh, and i also fixed that damn battery pack issue!!

It never ceases to amaze me that all these runaways hit rock walls, cinder block foundations, railroad ties, curbs and any and all immovable objects. In all the years I've been into RC, I have NEVER ONCE heard of a runaway going for the high grass and slowly and gently being brought to a successful stop.

Rolex I was thinking the same thing earlier. It's just the laws of physics. I could try for years to jump my RC into a river, and something would happen on every run to keep it from making it into the river. But after years of trying, I woud finally move away and forget about the river. I would eventually build a show piece, a true shelf queen with several thousand in parts and a year's labor. I would then decide to take it for one maiden voiage, and I would have a glitch and the thing would take off, drive eratically for 60 miles through three towns, and end up in the river, never to be seen again.

I'm sure sometimes it does happen, but no one comes on here and starts a thread about how they had a run away and the car just eased into the grass and turned itself off. They would probably be ridiculed by the rest of us and receive an e-swirley and/or an e-wedgie.
