Finally it stopped raining last night and I got to run two tanks of gas through the engine.I filled up the third tank and about half way through the tank I figured it would be broken in and I would be able to punch it a little.I pulled the triger and it didn't seem to do anything. So I Pulled it the whole way.I don't think the thing went up to 10 miles an hour, if that.I went to my LHS last night to buy gas for it so when it stopped raining I could fill it and break it it.I bought Traxxas Top Fuel wich is 20% Nitro and was the best fuel my LHS carried. The owner told me that useing Traxxas Top Fuel I would have to lean it out a little.I am not sure how much she said though. So one of my questions is what should I do to make this thing go faster than it is now?I am also haveing problems with setting the throttle trim so that it doesn't move by itself. When I start it and take the glow igniter and roto-start off it goes by itself. Not really fast but it goes at least as fast as a good lawn mower on high speed. Then when I go to punch it is still dosn'y do anything.I can even let the trigger go and the thing will move all by itself.I tried closeing the throttle trim a little but it just stalls out.The only way to stop it is to press on the break and when I do somtimes it dosnt stop or it just stalls. Please help me, also sorrya bout the long poll.

My advice would be to follow your manufacturers directions on breaking the engine in, which I'm almost positive is a lot more than 2 tanks of fuel.

To stop the truck from moving forward at idle, set your throttle trim on your radio to the neutral setting. Then adjust your idle set screw on your carb: turn it clockwise to make it idle faster, turn it counter clockwise to idle slower. The idle screw is the smallest screw on your carb, it's black and sticks out from the front of the carb slightly.

You are gonig to need to run about 6 more tanks before it starts to feel good. And about 5 more after that before you see it ripping apart the earth.

With each tank, you will see better performance.

Its all about patience.

As for leaning your needles, follow the manufacturers directions to the letter!

I read the entire instruction booklet before I started it...It says run two tanks to break the enginge in.I will run some more through though.

It your throttle opening up all the way? With the engine off, pull the air filter off and cycle the carb slide to see if it closes and opens all the way. I wouldnt start leaning anything out until you do some research. You sound like a total newbie.

you should atleast run about 6 tanks before moving anything. It will get faster the more tanks you run.

O.K. first off if you read my post it says that it is a Savage 25 meaning a .25 engine. No I am not a newbie...I have had a Nitro Stampede before I got this one. Also I have never broken in an engine.I have never messed with an HPI or an HPI engine. And who says "You sound like a TOTAL newbie.".You sound like a total frikin - EDITED by NCNitro - !If you got a problem with my post then don't reply.

Also I have fixed the engine problem. Thanks to the people who have helped me.

Okay, settle down there big guy. I read your post and it does not mention that this is a Savage 25. Even if it did, you could have any engine in there....so my question was still valid.

I do notice (now) that your signature mentions a Nitro Star .25.

My question was asked so that I might give you some more specific information. I am glad to hear that your problem is resolved. I agree with your response as it applies to Rider, but to lump me in there is only asking for me to ignore any future problems you might have. That might be fine for you, but I'd say turning off helpful people is not a smart thing to do.

Just some food for thought.

And regardless of what your manual says, it will be about 6 more tanks before you see it really come to life. I dont give a rats ass what that manual says.

And another 5 or so before it starts tearing apart the earth.

Glad we could help.

and as for the idle, id wait till you finish the break in process then you can set the idle to how you like it some people like it to sit there some like it to have a roll to it.

i prefer a slow crawl in idle.

Oh I thought I said that it was a Savage 25...maybe I am thinking of another post.Yeah I am going to run some more tanks through it.Should I still go slow or can I speed it up a little?Or should I just wait untill a few more tanks?

I have a problem with your post Powerman, the term you used is a biggoted term and won't be used here. I have edited your post, and I strongly suggest you not use it again.

The reason it appeared that you were a noob is that anyone who has been around Nitro RCs for any length knows a new enging requires much more than two tanks for break in, so my conclusion was you were a noob too.

You will do much better getting help around here if you try a better attitude, just a suggestion.

Well guess what when you get a manual for your brand new $400.00 toy it should have the right information in it.My engine manual said that you should run two fulls tanks through your truck to break in your engine. And I am guessing that somone who created the truck/engine and is getting paid for putting the right information in the instruction manual is going to put the right information in it.Personally I don't like being called a newbie and being called one is just as offensive to me as somone insulting me with more vulgar language. So if you got a problem with me going to my offensive side then ban me.

:ban:

Powerman.......The S-25 take abit to break in. Mine didnt start to rip until almost a gallon!!

Take a chill pill dude. Manuals are overrated!! ;)

hey powerman if you want to be banned then do us all a favor and ban yourself. if you want help its here if not then dont post! as for being called a newbie ....there are more important things in life to worry about!

Maybe you should try re-reading your manual, maybe you just read it wrong. Anyways, I really don't care what your manual says, or if you break your engine in properly or not, hell it ain't mine, but keep up the poopy attitude and you may just get your wishes. People here are just trying to help you, there is no need for your poor attitude.
