hey could someone please help me I'm new to all of this and i just got a deal on a used tmaxx and it has a os max .15 on it and i can get it to start but i can't keep it running could someone give me some idea what the problem could be and how i could go bout fixing it

you might need to explain yourself a little more. all i can tell you 4 now until i get more info. is make sure it's getting fuel, check the fuel line, make sure you see fuel going through the line (not air!). if all this checks out, check your glo plug. make sure it's hot. still checks out but doesn't start, you have a problem! check back in and we'll go from there.

i get good fuel and its a brand new glo plug and i can get it to start but it just wont stay running I'm not sure if the carburator needs to be adjusted or what but it will run for a few seconds i can throttle it up and then it dies

adjust it back to the factory settings then go from there. i'm not sure what they are on a .15, but i'm sure you can find them. if you don't know them, ask the person you bought it from. but i can tell you if it's starting but only runs for a short time, then it has to be fuel or plug. make sure you have no air leaks from the head (in other words, check all your head bolts), check your backplate (inside of pull start), plug tight, all needles are seated in your carb. also check the o ring on the carb. i know it's a lot to do, but it has to be one of them. ... hopefully.

i think that ur motor is a little bit too rich, but is it putting out a lot of gas and smoke, cause if it is it is too rich. u would have to turn ur high speed needle down a little bit.

If his engine were too rich it would take more than a little throttle movement to kill it. The thread NA passed here is a great place to start your education.

One thing that may not be mentioned is the fact that this engine may have been sitting for quite some time. Engines that have been idle (not being used) for a while tend to be a bit stubborn, especially if they were heavily dosed with after run oil.

After you have gone through all of the suggestions in NA's link, I suggest two things. One, return the carb to factory settings, and two, let it idle for about half a tank. Let the engine get "warmed" up a bit. Once it is all warm or at least close to normal operating temps, then start with some easy driving with some shots of throttle to give it some quick dashes of speed. After this tank is gone, load her up right away (don't let it cool down). Now start the tuning process.

Here's a link to the owner's manuals for most of OS's engines. Download the one that applies to your engine, and give it a read. You might find the needle settings and a bit of helpful/useful information inside:

that is very true also, i have had motors that i had let sit for a long time too and they took a couple of tanks to get them running good again.
