What parts or how can I do this conversio or what parts can I get to protect my car's parts more from rocks, dirt, etc.

According to the HPI Forum this question was asked a while back and the folks at HPI said that there were too many parts needed to convert to a rally car and it wasn't worth the money. If you want a rally car just buy a rally car.

Ebay is full of parts for the RS4, Tower Hobbies is also a great place to shop. The prices are decent and the shipping is really quick. Overall I have done really well on on Ebay finding what I need.

You can put some rally tires on your RS4 and get a little more ride height, try changing suspension setting to gain some ride height. You will not have a full off road RS4 but you will have a little more clearance.

Look on Ebay for a rally car, you will be suprised how cheap you can buy an RTR in good shape from someone looking to get out of the hobby.

Good luck!

Actually I would dis-agreee with MustangMan. I've personaly done this to one of my Rs4 3's. All you really need is the front and rear shock towers from a super nitro rally These and then you just need the shocks form the front of an mt, but use fronts on all four corners, because the rear shocks are to long to use on your car Use these for the front and back Then you just have to trim the front C hubs to get more travel out of them. Thats all you really need to do to use it offroad, but I would recomend using a slipper clutch, but thats up to you. if you have anymore questions just ask, and maybe I can get some pictures of mine for you to see. Take care, and sorry mustangman, I'm not trying to shoot you down or anything.

No prob JP...

I was just saying what I read on the HPI forum posted by an HPI employee that it was not cost effective. Maybe he was referring to buying all of the stock Rally parts from HPI and not with aftermarket or other kit parts like you're suggesting. That's what's great about this forum. Since you've done it and can give part numbers that's killer. I've got two RS4s and I was going to do the stage D drift to the other but maybe I'll do a Rally now with your suggestions and put a Focus body on it to add to my Ford body collection! :D

It's all good!

Thanks for not being mad mustangman. I would highly recomend doing a rally conversion, it's a blast to drive. And compared to most offroad trucks this car actually looks scale. i say go for the focus, I'm thinking that might be my next rally body since they discontinued the Peugot. Heres a quick picture of my rally.

So, let me get this straight. I get the above pieces from the MT and the Super plus a slipper clutch and that is it? I have seen the HPI rally tires for sale at my LHS, too. Hmmmmm...(wheels and meeses turning in head)

Yes revo, thats pretty much all that is needed to get you going in the dirt. There are a few other parts that will help but nothing that is absoulutely needed. Some type of CVD's or universals help out and so do these ,there for the rush but they will fit, I promise. they are a little longer than the stock ones, so they help keep your dogbones, CVD's, or universals from poping out. They help out more in the front, but using them at all four corners doesn't hurt. Using a slipper isn't 100% needed either, but again I think it made an major improvment, as well as makeing the rear diff a limited slip to match the front. Have fun with it, thats what this hobby is about.

after tearing my rs4 2nd gen apart tonite

to get at this

I thought to my self as I grabbed a rear a-arm from my busted up 'Pede.... I could make this into a buggy easily.... how you ask?
Parts List:
TRA2336x3 and cut to length for front and rear links. $5x3=$15
RPM Rear A-Armsx2 Trimmed at the front near the hub carrier $10x3=$30
MIP Shiny CVD Kit Stampedex2 $40x2=$80
Traxass Big Bore Front Alum. Shocksx2 $30x2=$60
Total $185
Yes this may be dumb to spend that amount but just to have done it is cool.....In theroy it should work as the a-arms would be wide enought to clear steering, muffler and gears. The CVD is meant for rear stampede a-arms and links for steering and camber you can make the length.... If I get my pede the way I want it.... Then this will happen.....

You need to tear that thing down for a cleaning, not just to replace the outdrives!!! LOL

I dont think the belts are going to like the off-road debrie? I have a hard enough time keeping belts and pullys on my RTR RS4 in clean parkinglots.
