I want to get a fricken engine for my rs4 3. and i want one that i dont have to tune every 4 tanks, just often. i want a race legal one, and i want one that kicks major ass. help. thanks

Damon

Calm down there sparky! Get an OS 12.(lots of choices) easily tuned, reliable, race legal, fast! thats what you want right?

yea i would say go with an os .12 racing engine. my brother got one about a year ago and he really likes it, he put it on his RC10GT

o yea sorry but did i mention i want a pullstart? Thanks for you help and more input would me helpful. Thanks alot.

Damon don't know if you are interested but I have a 12RSS motor that I am going to probably let go pretty cheep. Let me know if u are interested. Later

EDIT** I see that you have the type SS so nevermind. If you do want a good racing motor try a Fantom.12. They have some that are a pullstart and will be a direct fit for your car and pipe and all that. Later

how much horsies does a os.12 compared to a .12 novarossi? I had an os max .12 of my gt until it got tired and replaced the piston/sleeve twice, now its just dead. Thanks

I've gotta be so annoying to everyone here, sorry

Just get an OS, you won't be disappointed, easy to tune and hold a tune very well, and plenty of power. Tower sells them cheaper than anyone by far. Get the OS CVRX 12, the X on the end of an OS engine means that mill is the pullstart version.

like i said, go with the os .12 NCNitro is right, the x is pull start and the r is racing. that engine is a good engine.

The O.S. Max Cv-rx (according to towerhobbies) only has 1 hp at 31,000 rpms...my rs4 3 ss has the 12r ss which has 1 hp and i wanna at least notice a significant difference...help thanks.

O.S. 12TR is supposed to be a good engine.

The problem that you get is really once you get past the 1hp engines, it's gonna get harder to tune.

it isnt all about horse power. if you have an enigine that gets 1hp at 28,000 rpm it wont be as fat as say an engine tha is getting .68 hp at 38, 000 rpm, more hp at lower rpm accelerates quicker, but wont top out as fast as less hp at higher rpm, in the end it also has alot to do with gearing, but thats a whole different post. :microwave

Actually, it's more about the powerband and where it peaks at. And torque is a big factor also.

besides don't buy what the manufacturers are claiming there h.p is.

if anything, wouldnt they lie about the speed of thier hp instead of making it sound weak?

well.. if you want a roar legal engine that kicks major ass, then i suggest you get a novarossi RS12S3... check it out at www.novarossi.com... 1.40 horses, 40,000 rpm... i think it's race legal, cuz it has a standard glow head, but make sure if you plan to get it... but if you dont want a pullstart and are considering novarossi... take my advice... GET A GOOD STARTER BOX... their engines are TIGHT!

edit: most .12 pullstart engines are either 1 horsepower on the dime or lower, so it's the rpm with 1hp your really concerned about when you get a pullstart engine... still sticking with novarossi, i suggest a cx12ps2 engine http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDUH2&P=7 this engine has 1.00 hp, 34000 rpm... they make something with 34500 rpm, but i dont know where to find it...

you could also get an ofna redhead... has 0.55 hp, but 38000 hp, which makes the top speed pretty good... plus, i heard there was a modification you could have done to it to make it go a LOT faster... check www.nitrorc.com for the mod details
