Damnit, I might be looking at getting a Savage. As much as I hate HPI. I'm seriously contemplating getting one...SOMEONE CALL 911!

How is HPI the darkside? To me, Electric is the darkside-except for the E-Maxx.

I don't like HPI...but i'm hearing good stuff about the savage, and really considering it...ahhh...did I just say that?

HPI is far from the darkside if anything was the darkside I would most definatley say that it is electric and duratrax.

specter, after that comment, i'm not sure which side i'm on. i own an electric emaxx, duratrax axis, and an hpi savage. what is all of the above.

e-maxx is not the dark side, but i have heard nothing but horror stories about duratrax. You are not on the darkside the e-maxx is far from the darkside.

i have not had any horror with my axis.this might hurt some people but it stomped my savage when it was stock.top end is incredible.

Thos axis buggies aren't light built either, I'll say.. My friends can take one helluva beating, and still come out of it.. Only thing he ever broke was the bumper, against that 55 gallon barrel lmfao

what does imfao mean? i've seen this a few times now and the axis will take a pretty good beating, but it lacks shocks. it bottoms out every where it goes.

Add "Rolling on floor" to your previous guess and you have ROFLMFAO or remove the F'n and you get ROFLMAO.

GET ONE!!!

Dude, you must get a Savage... I have one and it is awesome... the jumps you can do with it are endless because of the suspension...get one, get one, get one! :radio:

Welcome to RCNT, Hope you like it here! BTW: back to topic, you like the savage's suspension? I've heard from many fourms that the suspension is the Savage's 2nd weakness, Next to the engine.

The only thing weak about the Savage's suspension are the stock shocks. They have the same problem that the T-Maxx stock shocks have. They suffer from a problem known as...

THEY SUCK!

Other than that, the design of the suspension is similar to that of the T-Maxx and many other MTs out there. Get better shocks and the suspension becomes whatever you set it up as...either great or crap (the crap depends on the operator who is doing the set up).

savage suspension

The savage's suspension is one of its strongest points, and as far as i'm concerned its extremely superior to the T-Maxx...but i will admit that the stock springs aren't great.

T-Maxx :sniper:

Skymaxx The savage shocks aren't the greatest I agree but they are nowhere near as bad as the Tmaxx. I have been jumping my savage about 4-6 foot high and haven't popped a shock yet. With my Maxx I popped the shock caps just going off a 2 foot jump.

Just my .02

The only reason you haven't popped a cap is the weight of the oil in the stock shocks. With that weight you could probably drop it off a building and not pop a cap...you'd probably bust the bottom out of the truck as the weak springs compressed all the way, but you'd still have your shock caps.

Guys, I'm not trashing the Savage. I am very happy with mine.

I am simply making the observation that the stock shocks are the only weak area I see in the suspension.

You say you haven't had any problems with your shocks...great. I'm sure I can find people who have T-Maxxes that can say the same thing. BUT the bottom line, is that the plastic shocks that come stock on both MTs and the weak ass springs that are used coupled with the weight of the oil used in the shock...make them the only problem area that I am concerned with. That is why on both my MTs (Savage and T-Maxx before it), one of the very first mods/hop-ups I bought were all aluminum shocks and some stronger springs. The oil I used in both is 60wt which is almost double the wt that comes stock on both.

Soooo...for those who want a stronger suspension system on their Savage...upgrade the shocks. The rest should be sufficient.

Well I finely broke my Savage tonite. I heard about the driveshafts being to weak and snapping. Well that's what broke which is no big deal. I am going to have them made out of a stronger steel. Think maybe stainless steel. I have a buddy who is a Machinist and will make them for the cost of materials only.

OMG!!! 60wt in all 8 savage shocks??? are you joking? those things must not compress at all, or you must chuck your savage off of a 10 story building either way i dont think you would see those things compress. maybe thats the reason why you broke them. FYI stock savages come with #100 petrol oil (HPI terms) which = to about 10wt oil
