So I had Ercm work over my Losi 454 and a pipe to match now I blow the primary shaft in my tranny every 5 minutes literally today I blew 2 of them before I burned 1 tank. Anyone have any ideas? Besides de tuning or down grading

+1 if your slipper is too tight its not absorbing the abuse the motor is putting on the driveline.

My slipper is set right. I set it and snapped one so I doubted my ability and had my friend set it up. And I snapped it again... Could it be the case?

Loosen the slipper more, since you engine had the ERCM treatment plus a pipe. Your going to have to develop your own sweet spot for tuning the slipper, the stock setting most likely aren't working for you., but I'm just taking a shot.

+1 to this. You can't add more power without beefing up the drivetrain or adjusting your slipper.

I made a new shaft from 8740 steel & case hardened it to stop this problem, even running my slipper loose I'd snap those shafts like they were pretzel sticks.
Not so bad on dirt, but if you've got traction they'll let go with a decent .28.

I am not sure case hardening would be the best solution, that makes the shaft more brittle. A spring steel maybe a better bet. I know Racer1966 on our site is a metal guy and will know a lot more about what will handle the twisting force. Maybe something like A666/301 stainless spring steel would work?

I found that a warped one of my Robinson racing steep gears which was causing it to bind up and snap the shaft. Is there any upgraded shafts available or even better a more beefed up steel gear set?

RR gears are about the best I have found.....and as far as shafts go.....unless you get another custom one made that is going to be your best bet.

No.... the cyber bulling thing is my arena. Remember we had a guy quit a while because of me?:D
C'mon, Joey. Well over a hundred members have quit because of you. I've been wanting to quit for the same reason, then you disappear for a while and I get sucked back in.
You've been back for several weeks now, so I guess I'll be giving my 2 week notice again.

Sorry sir we are all out of Piss of Crab today. May I interest you in cat cooked on a hot tin roof. We found it there yesterday....VERY tender.

Why does the cat have black fur with white stripes down the back?
