they told me i need a battery ? i got the RTR. if i need a battery i will like to get a lipo battery do i need any type of connector?

If you want to run lipo you need an external lipo cutoff, or an esc with lipo cutoff. You can't drain a lipo like a limb or nicd battery till its dead. It will ruin it.

any youtube video on how to do this?? I'm been looking but i can't find it for the axial or any other car... I'm new to the rc world... can i put a 11v lipo battery?

If you have an esc (electronic speed control) that can handle the 11.1v of a 3s lipo, then yes, that would be fine.

The LiPo low voltage cut-off is an external component that you can add to an ESC that isn't LiPo ready that prevents the LiPo pack from draining below the recommended level.

From what I have read the esc that comes in the RTR version is lipo ready (built in low voltage cutoff) and it can handle 2s lipos. Just be sure to read the directions so you will know how to make sure the low voltage cutoff is on.

The directins "say" that its on from the factory, but i didnt trust it, i checked mine.

This is true but not sure if it can take 3s. I do know you can fine-tune the Axial AE-2 esc with the Castle Link.

I dont run lipos though for I dont like alot of speed, I like my scale style driving. As far as what you will need that ISNT an upgrade would be extra knuckles, c-hubs and a motor, and possibly some extra shafts.

NOW, if your going to break and upgrade there are SO SO many crawler sites with aftermarket in mind. I ALWAYS do the weakest parts first i.e c-hubs knuckles and lockouts with alloy. After that MIP steel shafts. Other than that the rig is VERY solid and can take a beating. Check out my many scale builds for ideas or just the Scale & builds section period.

I mainly run 2s with a 55t motor. Slow as molasses, but a torque monster.

Thats what my XR was like with 2s on 45t, so much f'n torque but all you would have to do is squeeze the trigger a little more to get over anything but then again its x2 the 45t... I hate running anything slower than 35t in my scalers, especially since I dont run Lipo anymore.

If your not meaning DIG, what the hells the point of shifting from 2w to 4w in a scaler?

It's a dig unit reversed, not all scale rigs are scale crawlers. The idea of a scale rig is to mimic a 1:1....1:1's can shift from 2wd to 4wd.

Yup. What Smaxxin said. If i just want to crawl, i got the AX-10. I'm actually planning on bringing it out to the 1:1 offroad park to hit some real rocks. Itll be for when we get too drunk to bash our 1:1's out there. Its fun trying to get over stuff in 2wd, then switching to 4 only when needed.

You can shift between 2WD, ft 4WD and pt 4WD at any speed back and forth while driving (since the Grand Cherokee does not have manual or automatic hubs you can always "shift on the fly"). There is no advantage in stopping. In order to shift into part time 4WD Low you must be at a standstill - tranny in neutral of course.

I'm with you, that's pretty cool being able to switch on the fly like that. What do you use to be able to do that?

That sounds pretty fun to me, and I never really liked the idea of rc rock crawling, for me its 1:1 or nothing. But then again I have never tried it 1:1 or rc so I don't know much about it, I just think its cool 1:1s can flex and move like that and it looks like a blast.

Is there any way I can set my tmaxx up like that? 2WD is mighty fun for doughnuts and it's nice to be able to break the rears free around corners sometimes. But 4WD seems to be where it's at, my Tmaxx is more fun than my pede, and I haven't even tried the 2.5 yet.

I use a reversed dig unit on my RC.

If you haven't seen it here is my 1:1 thread. We go play on the rocks in it.
