I just have a few quick questions about the Savage. How do you start the engine?Does it hold up better than a T-Maxx?Is it just as big as a T-Maxx?(Like is it as wide, and long?)When I look at the truck with the body off it looks like it is weak.(It is really skinny to.)Could you put any motor on it?Well thats basicaly all of the questions I have rite now.If you want to add anything that is different between the Savage, and T-Maxx go ahead and post it hear.I am trying to figure up all the stuff I need for it, so I can get an estimante.:help:

Ok, first off, the Savge is alot tougher than a maxx (IMO). It may look different, but the design is really strong. The engine is a pull start. It is slightly larger than a maxx, but the engine is alot larger than the maxx. There are some weaknesses, but the SS kit makes up for them (the HD stuff is stock on the SS), plus the engine is even bigger than the RTR savage. You can put just about any 20 class engine in it, most are drop ins. The SS kit requires a radio and will come disassembled (kit). I don't have a maxx but that's the info on the savage.

So!

So what you are saying is the only thing I need to get it up and running is batteries, and fuel?I read somwhere that you could use some kind of turn starter.Thats why I wondered what the starter was.So hears what I came up with so far.

-Hpi Savage .21=399.99
-Trinity 30% fuel(1 gal.)=$30.00, or Traxxas 20%(quart)=$10.00
-12 AA batteries=Around $15.00-$20.00

What should I get Traxxas fuel or Trinity?

Trinity, but I burn Blue Thunder.

If you want all the info on the savage, look thru all the old threads. Like I said, there are some weaknesses in the RTR Savage. Dog bones especially. If I were looking into getting a Savage, I'd do some reasearch here. RCNT has about the best knowledge base for the Savage and the Maxx. Also, since the SS kit is nearly ready to ship (later this month, or early next month), I would really save aup a little more and have a really killer truck.

The roto start is an add on. It replaces the pull start and is handy at times, not handy other times. But both HPI engines come with pull starts.

How much more?

How much more will the SS cost? Also will I need to buy any parts or will everything be there.Such as servos, fuel lines, exe.

The SS kit should be about 390, everything is there except a radio (excluding all the extra stuff like fuel, glow driver, fuel filter, all the other stuff you would need for the RTR). I'm not up on radio prices, but check out www.towerhobbies.com for current prices on stuff. But the point is, it's not that much more for what ya end up with.

Also remember that the savage doesn't have reverse as standard, and that's about $40 for the module.

Oh yea

What I was thinking of doing is getting a Savage .21 then slowly upgradeing it.I am not sure about the reaverse though. It says you need servos.I am not sure what ones to get, or where to put them. Also how do you shift it?

from forward to reverse??????????

if so you would use the third channel on the radio........

I agree with Error. Savage is much better than T-Maxx, and I have one of each.

You might find that using the search function or just cruising through the threads in the Savage section helps. There is a great deal of information available on this site, and most if not all of your questions have probable already been asked and answered. So start reading.:D

ya before i got my savage this is all i looked at and found a lot of helpful stuff here
