RC Driving Style
Okay, I lied, I dont hate it, but I hate its wheels and its stupid ass setup. The way the savage is setup, the torque of the engine always tries to remove the rear right wheel. So in that case, I have stripped ALL four of my rims, and I can't remove the Screws that are fastening the front right wheel, I also superglued the rear right wheel to the shaft-not on purpose-and that is also stuck, I am getting new wheels soon, probably some Swamp Doggs or something, but I need to fix my savage right now so I can buy rims. I need suggestions! Thanks.:help:
 
Any time you are using plastic rims the savage will most likely strip them. For a more permanent fix try some aluminum rims. Sooner or later the torque of even the 21BB will strip the rims.
 
ok calm down and take a deep breath, just get some super glue remover to get the super glue off. :sheep:
 
You can cure all you wheel stripping problems by getting the Savage Central adapters and Pro Line Outback Weld 40 series TxT-1 rims.This setup has performed flawlessly on my Savage for several gallons.If you want to stick with the "hex" design wheels just put some blue thread lock onto threads so they don't come loose and strip the wheels out.The onlt other solution is getting alloy rims which can get expensive if your not careful what you buy.I have a few pics in my gallery if you want to see what the Outbacks look like.
 
i havnt even ran my savage yet which arrived on saturday..but i already swaped out the rims/tires for my t-maxx stock ones..IMO the savage tires are wayy to tall and soft, from watching/driving my friends savage. alumunim will be better agianst stripping but i do not think the increase in rotational weight is worth it.....and for set of aluminum rims you can have alot of plastic rims...well not that it matters uneless you can get the tires off without damaging them.
 
i had the same problem. it got really bad with my XTM 24.7 pro motor. i broke down and bought some new Proline wheels that would fit the stock tires. cured that problem. now if i could find time to play with it again
 
i wish i had some superglue remover when most of my fingers where stuck together from glueing my tires.
hehe it was a big mess
i got a set of rattlers from ramtech and i love them but i bent one already they are not indestrucable by any means but what bent the rim also bent 2 shocks broke the lower control arm and the caster block.
so if it was a plastic rim there would probably be nothing less.

How strong are the STock TMaxx Rims? I was thinking about using those and some pro line Mashers or something.... Rex's idea is also good, ill have to do more research on prices...
 
The stock T-Maxx rims will handle it just fine. I have run RPM rims, ProLine Rims and now, my current favorite, IMEX with JumboMaxx tires. All have held up to the torque without stripping the way my stock Savage rims did.
 
Can you still race with Jumbomaxx Claw Doggs? I need some good race tires. (Dirt on the track is kinda loose, so Chevron styles get really good traction)
 
I'm not a racer, so I can't say for certain. I can tell you this that a stock set of T-Maxx rims with ProLine Maxx Mashers will give you what you need in the grip area.
 
What I have found works great is to JB weld the adapters inside the plastic hubs so they cannot spin out and strip. They are cheap and just realize you have to get new adapters when you get new wheels. I am still on my stock wheels and I am running a picco .26.

Just use fingernail polish remover to remove super glue.Well acetone is what does the job .

I've had the stock tmaxx tires and rims on my savage since i bought it (got it used and that is what came on it and didnt even notice the difference until like a month ago) and I've had my savage since august 2003. havent had any problems with it so far.

I stripped a rim a little while back and didn't know how to exactly remove a tire properly so when trying to remove it I punctured a tire and broke it. So instead of it costing me $10.00 for a new rim I had to buy new rims and two new tires. I was pretty pissed at that point. Later
 
SHK, I'm hoping that you are being sarcastic, but in the case that you are sincere in your question...

You just buy the rims. They do sell them separately. Then you remove the tire from the busted rim and put it on the new rim. Remember all of those threads asking about how to unglue a tire from the rim? Here's where that info might come in handy.
 
Sky, I know about all the diffrent things but I was hoping he had tried a certain way on his tires, and it worked so he would tell me about it. I have tried the oven one, didnt work, Today ima try the acetone and then if that doesn't work Ill boil it. I was hoping to find exactly how long to boil the tires, but search didnt provide.
 
Boiling tires is like cookin chitlins, ya gotta boil the sh*t out of them to work. Do you have an aircraft covering heat gun? I used one to get the tires of many a stock HPI rim. Your have to wear gloves and just about melt the rim to get the CA to deteriorate to the point where it lets go. I was cooking the chrome off mine. The acetone does work, but is kind of slow. it has to disolve the CA, and that doesn't happen fast. If you use acetone, do it outside, and be careful with it, it is very volitile and evaporates very quickly.
