Ok so tonight I tried to set up my new speed control in my xxt. I found, I should ask a couple of questions here before I do something ill regret. So heres the deal. I set it up with a dynamite tazer speed controll, and traxxas reciver, and remote, and a lrp cheapy motor 19 turn I belive. So I get it all done and all the conections wired up, plug in the battery, and nothing happens. I pull the trigger and nothing. The steering works, but every thing motor related dosent. I tried to set the speed controll, and there isnt even any lights or anything happening. What gives, anyone have any ideas. Also, do I need a special reciver for a electric car vs. a nitro? And one more question about recivers, can I run a associated reciver, with a traxxas remote? Idk, I think I'm sliping into one of those to tired to think moods. Any advice is apreciated, Thanks.

okay, lets' go over a few basics. First off, polarity correct on the speed controller? I'm assuming so, since the servo functions.

First thing to check is, and this is a duuuuuh question, but is the battery charged?

Next, servo reverse switch in the correct direction?

Push brakes, see what happens?

Next up, you sure you connected the motor leads to the motor, and not battery to motor?

Lastly, if that doesn't cure it, apply the battery to the motor directly, to make sure your motor isn't fried. Make sure the rear wheels are off the ground before doing this, or you'll have a pretty quick land torpedo, if the pack is charged.

Polarity is all good. Battery is fully charged. Everythings pluged in corectly. Motor is brand new, checked with another battery, took off like a rocket. When I plug in the speed controll to the 1 position the motor starts to take off by itself, but still no lights on the speed controll. I'm stumped, and a little pissed.

Sounds like servo reversing on the transmitter. Find the reversing switch marked either chan2 or thro, give it a flip, and try the setup process again.

Well I tried reversing all the switches and everything on the remote possible. Nothing. I'm so discusted right now, nothing ever F-in works for me, something always has to go wrong and cost me more frigin money before it will work. I can't get any life out of the speed controll at all. Dosent even blip or anything. WTF. I can't belive, I mean I know I bought the cheap one, but come on, I havent even ran it yet. Is there a way for the deans plugs that I sodered on could affect something, polarity is right on them, but is there something I'm missing. It just should work. Only think I can think of is the reciver dosent work on an electric.

Are you sure the ESC is plugged into the throttle port of the RX and not the battery? Double check it, then double check your servo reversing and make sure your trims are set at neutral.

receiver's don't care whether it's electric or nitro. It sounds like you have the ESC plugged into the wrong input on the Rx. usually steering is 1 and the ESC goes into input 2 (throttle input). If you have the ESC plugged into channel 3 then that explains why it goes like a bat out of hell when you turn it on. Channel 3 on that Tx is either on or off. 100% either way.

HOLY HELL! Stupid me, I thought the SC went into the batery port. So i plug it into the 2nd position, it just about riped my jeans off. Ok so everything is ballenced, but dose anyone know how to revers the, forward and revers on a TQ3, or traxxas transmitter. I hit the gas and it goes backwards, is what I mean, tried fooling around with the chanels, just buggered it up more, any ideas. Thanks for your help guys. Now if I could gets this throttle revers thing down, this truck is ready to rip.

If you hit the gas and it goes backwards, first you need to switch the servo reverse on the transmitter. Then go back and re-program the ESC.

The servo reverse switch for channel two is on the base of the transmitter underneath the S of the Traxxas logo.

Ok so tonight I put the finishing touches on it, and got everything seated with tape. This thing is simply the best thing I have ever got for free! Even thought its cost me 70 bucks to restore it, but who cares. Its like new. So quiet runing up and down the street, I mean wayyyyy quieter then my rc18. Not as fast, but fun. I'm so pleased. I used the cheapy servo that comes with the spectrum radio for steering, works great, so I finally found a home for that pos lol. Thanks for all the help guys.
