I really tried the search thing.. and read and read.. No luck.. so please help me out.. :) I just did a .21 conversion on one of our t-maxx's.. xtm (very inexpensive). anyway.. now when I hit the brakes this thing will literally flip over the front bumper or atleast try to stand on it.. what can I do to get more brake to the rear wheels????? any help would be appreciated.. thanks.. Peace!!

1) Add weight to the rear-end or
2) adjust the brake lever or servo so there is not as much torque on the brakes.

You have the same amount of breaking power going to the front and rear its just as you go foward and stop the momentum(SP) of the car wants to keep going. So if you do adjust the brake lever it should make the breaks not as strong and it wont instantly lock the breaks up and cause it to flip over.

ya.. they will lock up.. the thing confusing me is that before the conversion and on the other maxx we can lock the breaks and just spin it out.. never had so much up front like that... It may also just be the new proline bowties .. maybe they just grab alot better and that's making the difference.. thanks for all the suggestions..

You can also look into adjusting the suspension in the front to keep it from nosing down when you brake. This will reduce the ability of the truck to put the rear end over the front end.

Another thing that is out there as a function on some radios, is ABS. It actually pumps the brakes for you so that you do not lock up the brakes.

The other consideration here is sheer power. A .21 has more grunt and speed than a .15, and will thus tend to take braking actions with more gusto. You slam on the brakes on a .21 at full speed and I guarantee you that you will see more reation in the truck than you would with a .15 at speed( all other things being equal).

Easiest remedy is to loosen the brakes a smidge or pump them when applying.

a little slack in the break and a couple of spacers on the front shocks did the trick.. thanks again...

Glad to hear it's fixed. Now, go out and break something else :D

IndyJohnny - I'm proud of you and I'm sure others are too!

BTW, I just ordered my XTM conversion kit for my Maxx - So I may be hitting you up for answers if any arise while I'm working on mine. :D

the XTM kit is great. i have had one for a little while now and i love it. i have also found that out tho that it will have a tendency to go over frontwards. but i got that fixed right away. what motor do u got?

I put the hotbodies .21 from our Lightning RR in the conversion.. it was the only engine we had laying around.. Had to cut the Shaft, I really thought that would be over our heads a little but we just whip'd out the dremel and presto! :)

2 probs we have now:

Stipped spur.. my bad on the mesh.. it was way too tight! I understand I can get a metal or stock spur.. what would you do? and I know I can get the little pegs or balls for the spur/slipper which is best?
BTW.. This conversion took me about 7 hours.. LOL. there you can all feel good about yourselves!! peace!!

I'd go for the RRP slipper disk conversion. It is stronger than the standard spur gear set-up. You can get it with a steel ring spur. I run this set-up on my Maxx and it is rock solid.

Go here:
http://www.robinsonracing.com/catalog/traxxas.html#slipkit

and hit the link labeled "Double-Disc Slipper Kits" at the top of the page.

It is sold just about everywhere, but the link above is RRP's site and will give you part numbers, etc.
