Allright boys and girl.

My tmaxx 3.3 used to run about right 4 turns out on the HSN. now it wont run at all unless I spin it in another 2 turns (so I am 2 turns out on the HSN)

If I had an air leak causing a lean condition.... wouldnt that make it want me to RICHEN the mixture? not lean it?

I would still take it out and seal it up, but the problem you describe could be fuel delivery, a plugged air filter, or bad plug.

Truth be told I replaced the carb THEN THE ENGINE!!!! I know its not the fuel cause I am using it in another truck.

It still runs like crap and has no power, maybee 1/3 of what I know it should have.

Can this be caused by the glow plug? I thought as long as it was running.... the plug was good.

Its a NEW plug, but could it be the WRONG heat range plug? I bought a handfull of inexpensive "super hot plugs" and I just dont remember if the problem started about the same time.

I am of coarse going to try a new plug.... so please dont recomend it LOL. Has this HAPPENED to anybody?

New wrong plug = run like crap ??? I mean REALY REALY not even driveable, no power.

What Fuel are you using? If it is the Traxxas 33 Top Fuel it requires a cold plug for best performance.

I have a tmaxx 3.3, I ran it quite a bit at factory setting and it ran AWESOME.

One day it decided to start running like CRAP. New plug, new gas. same thing. It was spiiting raw fuel out the exhaust, so decided to lean it out via the HSN.

I wound up at 1 turn out!! and I was still getting blue smoke from exhaust and not enough power like it always had before.

I got a new carb, same thing. I got a NEW ENGINE!!!!! SAME THING!!!! It wants to run ( poorly ) at 1 turn out on the HSN and I am still getting smoke.

I am completely stumped. The engine just wont get up to speed, it bogs horribly.

I sealed both engines, and tried em both again. SAME thing!!

I put a tank through it today, it was almost running ok, but just doesn't have the power it should have. Fresh gas, fresh traxxas plug, sealed engine, checked tank for leaks. playing w the low speed needle was definately HELPING. I got it to where it was at least fun enough to drive, I even hit second gear a coupel times. But my buddies truck ( same truck ) was FLYING in comaparison.

Same plug as me, same fuel as me. He was running at about 3 and 3/4 on the HSN. Mine wont even start unless I lean it WAY down. Yes all the servos are working, the slide is opening all the way.

Has anybody had this happen?

I have 3 other trucks and they have never pissed me off like this thing. I am about ready to try ANOTHER engine.

At factory settings, the truck wont start, and raw fuel comes out the exhaust.

hey i know he found the issue but figured id post a similar issue with mine i had bout a year and a half ago when i got it.

it was doing pretty much everything he described and had to have both the
HS and LS needles leaned way out to run and even then it was still moving alot of raw fuel through it, i tried everything including taking it to the local hobby shop and letting them tinker with it a bit. they told me my compression was a little on the low side but not bad and just run it till it dies. well i decided to buy another engine just to start fresh. butter but not much... turned out the crappy plastic stock exhaust got to hot and had some built up plastic in it restricting flow and causing it to over pressurize the tank and move to much fuel, cleaned the crap out and it was perfect! i felt a little stupid but it is a learning curve for not checking the obvious first.

again i know you found your problem but it could help someone later.

I AM GONNA CHECK THAT OUT!!!!!!
I put a new engine and carb on it, SAME PROBLEM. I got a new block for my cracked engine and tried it, SAME PROBLEM.

I am gonna pull the exhaust off it right now. Thanks for the IDEA!!!!

Hell I have another one on a tmaxx that runs, I wish the sun didnt just go down.

"Playing" with the LSN settings won't get you far. That's a VERY important setting.
Run the engine till it's up to temp, then lean the LSN and adjust the idle screw till you have a good idle without creeping. Punch the throttle. If it's still bogging, you'll need to lean it a bit more. Do that in tiny increments till you get a good launch off the line. Keep a close eye on your temps, since too lean will cause a quick overheat. Adjust your HSN for WOT.

MASSIVE RESTRICTION FOUND, carbon build up in the exhaust.

I took the exhaust off the truck and blew through it, seemed OK .... small holes ya know? I jammed an allen key in there a few times.... OMG ya can breath through it!!

I dont want to get my hopes up ( cause I have tried so many times to fix it ) but I hope this is it. Thank you so much!!!!! Tottaly worth the spanking i got from the moderator.
