I also tried all numbers for him with no luck. The home lines might be down or service into the area might be overloaded. The cell...without power, he might not be able to charge his up...same for the Nextel. At any rate, I will keep trying and hoping.
 
HB,, Thanks for checking that out for me, I really hope all is well for him and his family, This hurricane was a major wake up call for me, I have only been down here 4 years now and I really dont want to be as unprepaired for my next hurc experience.I talked with NC in a pm just an hour before the hurc was supossed to hit us,Ironiclly, he was warning me to hold on to my ass cus this was gonna be a bad one! at that time he was unaware of the intensity of the storm, and the direction it was going, his town had no time for an evacuation warning at all!

NM - Just as said about NC Nitro, my cell phone batts died and have had no power to charge them up. Plus, cell towers are down, so reception is bad anyway. We are supposed to have power and water by this Sunday. I cannot figure how to load the photos we took with the camera phone, but if anyone wants to email me, I will try to attach them in an email. No doubts here as to the strength of a hurricane. It's very real and terribly bad. I'm getting multiple warnings from my underwriters regarding Hurricane Charley, Florida and the disaster areas.

Hurricane Andrew was the most expensive natural disaster in America's history. This one might be a close second, if it doesn't make it to first place. There's still about a million people without electric and telephone, and lots of dead cell phone batteries, and no cable for internet, so lets just keep hoping for the best till everything gets hooked up again.
 
OK guys, just got off the phone with NCNitro. Joe & Family are fine. He's been without power, phones, cable since Friday. His area was hit pretty hard, but houses are still standing.. He's been dealing with gas & food shortages. 100 degrees with no AC, & a pregnant wife dont mix... His power & phones came on this afternoon, & he called me around 9pm, to let me know everything was cool, & to let everyone at RCNT know that he was OK. He's not sure when he'll be online again. Hopefully we'll see him around RCNT real soon...
 
I have a good friend in California who spent 2 days trying to get in touch with her mother in Ft. Meyers. She knew the power was out and phones were down, but couldn't get through to her mother's cell phone.
Her mother finally called her, and when asked why she couldn't be reached by cell phone she said she had turned it off to save the batteries since she wouldn't be able to charge it.
Yeah, she's old. We got a good laugh out of it, and other than a few downed trees and some roof damage, she's fine.
 
thanks for the update i thought we were going to have to send in the rcnt search and rescue unit...very glad to hear that their ok it must have been total trama maybe we should see if he needs anything maybe we can help???
