Guess I'm a little late to this party, but I just got power back (up in MA). Everyone round here stayed safe though. There was a decent amount of property damage spread out across town, but nothing too severe.
My town is bordered on one side by the Atlantic, and has 2 major rivers going through it, so most people live either right on, or close to the water. I know more than a few basements got flooded. I sat outside near the river for a while and watched all the stuff going by. Boat pieces, floats, even a few whole docks went by. No people though.
There was also lots of small debris covering the roads, which isn't too big a deal. But then several transformers exploded, leaving the live wires on the ground, which set all the stuff in the road on fire... So that was kind of fun. Never seen a road fire before.
Other than that, a few roads near the water got washed out, so they have turned into one lane paths through sand. Driving around those areas is a bitch. And we had no street lights for a while. (which isn't a big deal, cause I only think there are 3 in my whole town anyways). But like I said, everyone was safe That's what matters most.
Apparently, most of central Rhode Island isn't getting power back until Friday at the soonest though... Which is fine, because I work and go to school there =D
