Man, I just want to send out a good luck to all in the path of this impending Hurricane. I live on the MD coast of the chesapeake bay about an hour as the crow flies to the ocean. I am really nervous for my family and my property. I know that my house can be replaced... doesn't mean I want to loose it. I am doing the best I can to batten down the hatches and hopefully come through without any damage. Good luck to all.

Tom

Be safe all of you in the path of Irene.

Good luck bud, I am doing the same thing here today. Looks like I will be on the right side of the storm, which is the bad side, the strong side, and it looks like it's gonna be a pretty direct hit. Getting gas in the car and cans for the generator so I can keep the fridge on, and a light or two. Picking up some cases of water, and easy to prepare foods, some batteries for the lanterns and radio and cleaning anything that can become a missile out of the yard today. This aint my first rodeo, these things aint no joke! Take care of your family bro!

Good luck everyone over there!

hopefully it makes a hard right turn soon and goes out to sea.
we can only hope
everyone be safe

i will try a keep everyone posted as to what goe on here in PA

Getting prepared here in NY. I got my lipos charged and my camera ready for an RC bash in 70 mph winds :D

On a serious note, I hope my whole RC family is ok after this weekend and Irene is gone. I will have power because I have a generator so I'll try to be up to date with you all on how it is.

same here. while i'm not in the direct path central Jersey should see a fair amount of wind and rain. good luck to all that are near path. Post up when you can that you safe. Stay safe and good luck to everyone...

Were in NC, weather is wild. One minute its raining sideways and the next its beautiful.
Were halfway through having a metal roof put on (over shingles) they were supposed to be done days ago. Now I have a stack of instant shrapnel metal panels in my driveway. They jacked up my dish so no tv. And today dropped a pannel from the second story roof onto one id my ACs so now I have no AC upstairs. I ran back to work and grabbed a couple hundred pound rolling AC units and several charged up huge battery backups for all my electronics to keep my geek needs fed.

May all of you come through this with out any damage or losses, keep us updated the best you can so we know how your doing..

Good luck to you as well bro. It is starting to pound pretty hard here. I spent about 4 hours yesterday and few hours this morning putting the finishing touches on my preparations. We to have stocked up on water batteries and non perishable foods. I am really nervous guys.... like Joe said these things are no joke at all. Wishing you the best bro and to everybody else in the path. So far no power loss... but I will continue to post with updates as long as I can. I can feel the house shake! This sucks!

Tom

So far it's just raining right now no wind yet but my power just went out someone probably hit a telephone pole. We have a generator though so I'll be fine.

God this sucks! I hate this. I feel helpless. From what I am seeing on the news the worse is still to come. My house is shaking already... and they say it is not the worst of it.

Just stay inside. the guy I mentioned died when he went out to look around and got nailed by a tree limb.

We have started getting the outer bands, we wont get the brunt of the storm until after midnight, until mid day tomorrow. They are saying to prepare for flooding like never seen here before, which worries me more than anything else being that I am less than 4 blocks from the sound, and ALL my r/c and die cast stuff is in the basement, as well as a ton of other stuff stored down there. :\

Plus I am on the east side of the storm, the worst side to be on, so we will get the highest winds as well, this is gonna suck!

Get your valuables out of the basement.
In 1999 we got hit with Hurricane Floyd. No damaging winds, but 3 solid days of non stop heavy rain when it stalled there. The lower part of New York met with the 100 year storm. Trees fell over because they couldn't balance in the mud.
I had just sold the house and the inspection was coming up in a couple of days. I spent 14 hours in the basement with a commercial squeegee and a sump pump. If the power had gone out in my neighborhood it would have been a major problem
Several houses on my street had 5' of water in the basement. Yes, 5 FEET. Not a house in all of Rockland County was spared from basement flooding since there was so much rain that it seeped up through the basement floor.

Man.....I didn't need to hear that! I am in constant basement watch. I put sandbags outside the basement door and I go out and clean the stairwell and drain every couple of hours. The power has not gone out yet but it has browned out a few times and I hold my breath every time. I know the power is going to go out. This is my first hurricane and from a weather stand point is cool but from a father and homeowner this is agonizing!
