hope all of out members and everyone else in south FL made it through the night ok, hopefully you all with be back bashing in no time, or have a generator if your power is out so at least you can get on RCNT

I appreciate the kind thoughts guys, but we were VERY lucky this time. It came through Florida as only a category 1, and a bit south of me. We had some gusty winds and a lot of rain but other than that we were just fine. Actually it came in to Plaids backyard this time rather than mine. I really feel for our Louisianna friends, like Smaxxin, I hope he and his family are ok. As well as the 150,000 plus people that are now homeless in Lousianna. I know first hand how hard it will be for those people that still have homes, I can't even fathom what the 100s of thousands of people that have nothing more than what they left with in their cars are going through right now.

We made it through no problem where I'm at but around New Orleans everything is flooded. The levee around New Orleans broke in two places and the water is still rising. Last I heard there was over 10 feet of water in down town New Orleans. To make thing worse all of that water has to be pumped out. Even when there is no rain the city of NO is always pumping water out because it's in such a low area. It will be over a week before poeple can even try to go home.

It's amazing, I'm only a little over 100 mile west of NO and we got no rain and very little wind. Feeling very grateful right now.

I would also like to send my thoughts and prayers out to all affected by this very power storm. I can only imagine what it has to be like in an area hit by a storm of this magnatude. Here in MD we were hit by a tropical storm 2 years ago and that little storm caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage here in Southern MD. I was without power for 4 days and there was extream flooding and wind damage. All of this from a little tropical storm. I can only imagine what it must be like for all those very unfortuante people. I hope all made it through ok, and again, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone.

Tom

I just saw the biggest idiot on the news. After days of being warned and even after a mandatory evacuation was ordered some people just wouldn't leave so now most of them are stranded on the roof of there house. There were people complaining that it took too long to get rescued. They thought they would just call 911 and someone would be right over. It's funny how the stupidest assholes end up on tv in the worst possible times. I think I would have left him on his busted ass house. I hope they send him a bill for having to rescue his dumb azz!

There reaching an all time low in New Orleans. They are telling search & Rescue people to be very careful because there is a lot of shooting going on in the city. Now the people that are giving there time, equipment and risking there own lives have to worry about getting shot are robbed.

Plus the water is still rising.

that's why ALL them rescue workers need to hire Smith & Wesson's Security Co......that sucks they have to deal w/ that......I did well w/ our storm but it was WAY weaker hitting here than Nawleans...the eye passed about 20miles S of me so the area of devastation wasn't directly over me......I'm lucky to be on the same power grid serving 3 RR crossings so I lost power for a whoping total of 2-3 hrs.....you gotta love the assholes thinking they're gonna make out by looting....F'ing scum deserve to get shot.....I know if it was here I'd be gettin a nice big Pit Bull to lay around the house all day....and sit on the porch w/ a 12guage

My thoughts exactly. They did order Marshal Law. For those that don't know that means you have the right to use any means YOU THINK is necessary to protect your self and your property....That means shoot the S.O.B that's trying to steal from you. They even cought the police looting a Wal Mart on TV

These people need to understand that their in critical times.
Do some research on the city, it is located below sea level. Now that the levies have given out they have no chance of controlling the damage or restoring the power or water to the city any time soon. I hear it may be after the first of the year until it gets under control.

I don't understand what these people are thinking. Stuff is stuff.... If your dead what good is it. GET THE HELL OUT!!! Some people are so hung up on protecting their *stuff they are willing to die for it. I just don't get it.

Thats just crazy... People robbing other peoples houses and businesses... Figures... All caught doing this should be shot on site. That would stop a lot of it, once the word got out... Just like no one would jay-walk if they would get shot in the knee cap for doing it...

Ed I hear ya but sometimes Home is just where you want to be....even if it is trashed and you can't do anything about it.....I personally wouldn't be sticking around either but I would try and save as much of my stuff as possible....and if I saw someone going through MY stuff I'd feel very justified in taking another scumbag out.......I can understand looking for supplies and things that are survival but these are guys looking to make money off of others misfortune....sad way to live your life....I mean picking up a jacket or some clothes laying around is one thing.....going to a house w/ a truck (or boat) and unloading stuff is another

I just realized that our new sponsor Rc Tire is probably in a bad way right now. If you get a chance to look at this my prayers are with you.

I sent him a PM yesterday offering a place to stay if needed. Lord knows how he will retrieve the message but its an open offer. Hopefully he has family close to him that will be able to help out.

More bad news for the stranded

Almost all local businesses quit accepting credit cards. So now there are homeless and broke.

i live in houston.. anyone from rcnt that needs a place i got two rooms empty.. I'm a bit closer then eddy

as you all prooly know i work in a internet cafe, just east of houston. i have seen alot of people from louisiana in the last three days.. and it seems the best info has been comming form www.wwltv.com which is there local news team websight.. (this may be what is linked above but i am on dial up so I'm not going there), i have also had people trying to use the goolge earth software to "see if my house is still there" and sadly i had to break the news to them that the pictures on that software are NOT real time. if anyone knows of a real time satelite image system please let me know.. (i HIGHY doubt it) my prayers go out to the people of NO and i hope everyone is ok.
