I bought a 5 cell hump pack for my new savage 4.6. The lead that goes from the reciever through the on/off switch has the wrong end on it. The hump pack will plug directly into the reciever, but that does away with my on/off switch.

My LHS is about an hour and a half away, so, did they give me the wrong one, or, can I cut the end off the original aa battery holder and splice it to the hump pack?

Since mine has a Tamiya plug on it, I took the wire off of my original AA battery pack and soldered it to a male end of a Tamiya plug so it converts BEC into a Tamiya.
 
the 5 cell has the right connector just need to get a new on/off switch for it or redo the end of your hump pack to match the switch
 
the battery is a ofna 1700 nimh. The lead of the battery is a small and flat, just like the end that goes into the reciever from the on off switch.

The other end that goes fom the on/off switch to the battery source is about half the width and more rounded.

The end of the battery pak looks like its made for three wires, the on the original pack is just made for two
 
if you buy an hpi hump pack it comes with the adapter to fit the plug on the switch.
you could probably buy the adapter, or you could splice the wires, or you could buy a new switch.
all three options will work

You can cut the tab off the side that doesn't have a wire on it. Make sure that it is smooth and that it slides into the switch. Also make sure that the wires are ALWAYS plugged in right or you will fry the servo. Black wire to black wire, red wire to red wire.
 
Thanks for all the options guys. I was just wanting to make sure before I started cutting and splicing.
 
All you need to do is cut the connector off of the hump pack you have (cut one wire at a time to avoid shorting the two), then cut the one off of your AA holder & leave some wire to work with, & solder it on.

Or go out an get the other end of the JST connector and solder it on.

It's what I had to do. I am using a 1600 Mah hour t-energy, and it works very well.

I run the 3300 mah t-energy battery, and I do what what I posted earlier, and it works great.
