i'm just curious if anyone have this phone and if you like it. and also what case to get for it. i ordered mine today so i should get it but thursday. thanks shaun

Not me but that looks like a pretty sick phone from what I've seen.

I personally like the Droid better for an Android OS phone. Then again, I'm big on an actual keyboard, none of that virtual crap here thanks.

i've played with a coworkers droid and i didnt like the keyboard. but everything else was awesome. i had a dare and it is crapping out on me. the google maps is awesome that is the main reason that i'm getting it. we will have to see.

HTC's are known to be good devices. I'm looking at a touch pro 2 for a work phone. Can't use the Droid for security reasons, or I'd go for that.

I have an HTC Hero. Love it. I think you'll like the Eris. I looked at it even though its not a Sprint phone, and it looked good.

I will give you my no BS opinion. I had the Droid for a week. HATED it. It felt like a rectangular brick in my hand. The slider keyboard sucks and feels like it will break. The display is nice and the OS (2.0) rocks.

Then I got the Eris. About the same processor size (but the Droid has a dedicated GPU for graphics). Dated OS (1.5) but that is SUPPOSED to change soon. The phone feels great in my hand. The HTC Sense UI ( the graphical interface) if far superior to that of the Droid (vanilla Android UI). The apps are all the same. The screen is almost as sharp. The virtual keyboard is better than the Droid in that there are actually spaces between the keys. All in all it is, IMHO, a better phone than the Droid.

As for cases--I have the two piece, leather covered case from Verizon. It fits VERY well and is stylish to boot.

The one negative to ANY Android phone--battery life SUCKS! Seidio makes an OEM size battery that is 1750 mAh (compared to the OEM 1300 mAh) that will work with phone cases. They also make a 3500 mAh (I have one on order) that comes with a new battery door. That battery doubles the thickness of the phone and there are no cases YET for it. But there soon will be. I think having 3x the battery life (will be about 24 hours usage time vs. 6-8 with the stock battery and normal usage) is worth the size trade-off.

i can't wait to get it. thanks for letting me know about the batteries. i heard that the life was short but thats what they make a charger for. i thought the same thing about the droids keypad. you should see my work phone that is a brick if i have ever seen one. what a piece of junk but i could work with out it anymore.

WinSloMo??? Just say NO!!!!! I have had a crap-load of "smart" phones. A Palm 600--hated Palm's OS. Then a series of Window OS phones: Palm 650, Samsung i730, and HTC XV 6800 (Verizon's version of the HTC Mogul). Then it was on to a series of BlackBerries and now my Eris. I love it!

I love my blackberry, loved my Q too but about the only thing i liked the Q better for was how it veiwed the net compared to the blackberry. I might have to look into one of these new ones though.

Mines the curve, I just dont like how when viewing the net you are either zoomed really close or everything is hella small, no in betwen zoom like my Q was automatically.

my Hero blows the pants off my work blackberry, which is one of the older 8800 series phones.

when you get it, here's a few free apps everyone can enjoy
foxyring - tracks you on gps and you set 'hot spots' for altering the ringtone/vibrate mode. useful for work hours. also has a 'sleep hours' setting.
barcode scanner - reads a barcode with the camera, then you can search google for the product and get prices and info.
ringdroid - lets you make ringtones and notification sounds
battery life - a bettery display of actual % battery life left.

I dumped Battery Life when I discovered it was a major battery drain. Handsense SMS is a must as is Advanced App Killer and Better Cut. The latter lets you modify and change your icons, and set up custom shortcuts. Only one that won't work when changed is your Mailbox if you are not using Gmail.

thanks for the info. it should be here by 3 on friday. i can't wait to get to play with it. the wife is mad because i didnt get her one. but she wouldnt use it anyways.

Well I got my phone today and its awesome. I have installed a few apps. This is my first smart phone and I should have got one sooner. The camera rocks and the call quality is the best I've ever heard. The the forum works great on it.
