This is who you defended WoodiE...
Well this is before I learned of some new topics and even then and now HPISAVAGE only posted a shameless plug...who cares no big deal, hell I'm guilty of doing the same thing from time to time, even some of the members here have
www.RCNitroTalk.com in their sigs that they use else where. So I wasn't and even still dont see the reason to slam the poor guy.
Though as time has passed I have learned of some very interesting things, so get a cup of coffee and pull up a chair and I'll give you some brief history on this fella...
Way way way back in the start of RCNT (July 2002) there was a guy named Michael (aka: WoodiE) that noticed a problem in the current forums (Traxxas and others). I received this idea that I could do what they are doing but only better...by learning from their mistakes.
Anyways, I had this idea to make RCNT, but thought it would be better if I had some others giving me a hand to make sure I stayed on the right track, and offered a few people that was into R/C and had some experience with websites...one of which was Retread from
www.maxxskunkworks.com and the other being UltimateMaxx from
www.ultimatemaxx.com. Retread agreed to give me a hand when needed, ultimatemaxx choose not to and continue with his own site. No problem - thats cool.
Well RCNT quickly grew as the crap continued at other forums... ultimatemaxx never took off, even after he tried to get people to his site by giving away a T-Maxx. In fact I received an email that was sent out to all his members informing us that ultimatemaxx.com was up for sale, that lasted for about 2-3 weeks. Ultimatemaxx was now looking for news and articles and wasn't going to sell the site. That too lasted about 2-3 weeks and I then got one last email that Ultimatemaxx.com was no more, and he was going to open a new site for HPI Savages. Aww thats cool too.
HPISAVAGECOM then registers here at RCNT and posts his link. Some people here jumped him and I didnt care about the link, as I still dont...hell I even have his site on the links page. It wasn't until just recently did I figure out that UltimateMaxx and hpisavagecom was the same person. (try
www.ultimatemaxx.com see where it take ya).
Then in the last couple of days I have noticed ultimatemaxx spending more and more time on the site, even in areas of the "smilies", but who cares. I dont I find it amusing...i mean hell I didnt make them, I too found them from other forums, sites and other locations so I can't throw a fit about it. I do though think he likes RCNT a lot, he likes are smilies, or choice and a front page and bulletin board, and even some of our members including at least one MOD here has received an e-mail asking to become a mod there too - now that i find funny. How someone that was offered to become a big roll in this site turned it down, now wants what RCNT has.
I am excited to see what his site will finally look like...if it does look similar to RCNT then good for him, as there has been MANY hours spent on hacking and modding this site to make it the way it is now and if he manages to include what we have then I for one dread the day that I might have to do it all over again.
So theres a bit of history, i hope all of you enjoyed it as much as I have thus far.
