Hey everyone i am having trouble with my HPI Savage 4.6! it will start with the throttle 1/4 of the way open but as soon as the throttle is let off it stops. The idel screw are all at factory position (flush) the only upgrades are racing clutch and metal spindle. when truck idles the wheels spin. as soon as i apply the brake it shuts off... bran new glow plug. Kinda frustrated can anyone help ??? :) thanks!

idle gap set right? you say its at factory (flush).. but the idle screw isnt meant to be flush. and the HSN and LSN might need to be leaned out if they are at factory settings. check out this tuning video and the flow chart below it

how do u adjust the idle gap ? lol sorry I'm kinda new :(

nvm got that figured out but the truck wont idle unless the wheels are turning it wont start on the ground but as soon as you pick it up it starts perfect but with the wheels turning...... when started from that position with wheels spinning works great but as soon as i lay it on the ground it shuts off :(

what happens if your holding it and you hit the brakes? does that shut it off as well ? Wait before anything else... you did break it in properly right?
how did you break it in?

i broke it in by the book!! and yes when i hit the brake it shuts off aswell.
3 tanks of idle with the wheels above ground after the first 2 circles of half throttle then tuneing as your video above states!

If you cannot get it running properly using the tuning flowchart, wait for someone else that has a bit more experience than i do to chime in here.

theres a throttle knob on the remote. pull the body off the truck and watch the carb slide as you turn it. make sure its turned to the point that the carb is completely closed. you may neeed to change your linkeage on the servo back 1 cog if the carb dont completely close. you can also use that knob for easier starting.....turn it a little at cold start to up the idle a bit and truck will start easier

take off air filter and set your idle gap with a paperclip . screw the idle screw against clip till its on the loose side of snug. that should get your idle fairly close.

set your low speed needle back to factory if you have adjusted it. i never have had to adjust them on any of my 4.6 motors yet and it really shouldnt need much more than an hour or 2's turn. 1 hour =12th of a turn. look at the needle adjustment screws like a clock. 1 hour =12th of a turn.

idle is not the problem tho it idle's great as soon ad i apply the breaks it shuts off or when i put it on the ground it shuts off as well.... and thoughts to why ?

guess it must be possessed. are all the motor mount screws tight? are the clutch shoes on the right way?
