hi i have a hpi savage with f4.6. i have tried all troubleshooting from a lot of forums. igniter is good glow plugs are good. it has new pull start and owb. it gets plenty of fuel but will not crank. turns over fine with plenty of compression. the air filter is clean and oiled. i spent three hours cranking today and nothing even poored fuel out and put new 20% odonnell fuel in and nothing. finally i give up and I'm asking for help please. the only thing i have noticed that might be a problem is that the exhaust gasket is gone. would that cause it not to start?

That would lower your back pressure causing it to run poorly, but it won't keep it from starting.
Put some fuel directly into the carb and pull the starter. Make sure you have a fully charged igniter and the plug glows brightly.
If it starts right up and then dies after a few seconds you'll know you're not getting fuel through the carb.

Ok so I went to lhs today and got new glow plugs and new exhaust gasket. Come home put new parts in go outside and try to prime like normal after heating motor with a hair dryer and she still won't crank. I took the air filter off dropped fuel down the carborater and still nothing. I know it's not my glow plug or igniter. I don't know what is wrong with this thing but I know my fingers hurt like hell from the pullstart. I'm getting tempted to put the damn thing on Craigslist and get rid of it. Maybe someone needs parts. Any suggestions

I have a brand new one that arrived yesterday and it will not start either. I read the manual three times last night. When I got home from work this afternoon I did everything in the manual and nothing. Free batteries, brand new fresh fuel, and glow plugs shining brightly. This is my first rc and I'm pretty discouraged at this point. Help please.

Ok well I got bored from reading forums and decided to tear the motor apart. Before I had trouble with the one way bearing so I changed it to a pull start. Anyways the problem with mine is the spring for the starter shaft with through the piston sleeve so now I need to either rebuild or buy a new motor. Basically buy a new motor will be easier and purchased overnight shipping so hopefully be here when I get home from work tomorrow thanks for all the help

No that's all right I'm gonna keep it. I'll sell you the blown motor minus the piston and rod lol. I made the piston and rod into a key chain

I have the f4.6 the cooling head is scratched pretty bad on the top. If still interested make me an offer

So I have another question. Can I take my old crank case and put a sleeve and piston from a 5.9 in it and it work? It appears that the crank case from the 4.1, 4.6, and 5.9 are all the same. Just wandering if it would work with any other modification or not

It may look the same, but it's not.
