Hey Guys,
Well I've got a HPI Savage 21 which i got roughly 1 year ago.
I havent used it since and only used it about once or twice.
So 2 weeks ago i took it to my local hobby shop to get it serviced because it wasn't starting. So they said to run it for 2 tank fulls on idle before running it properly. I did that and got it starting to totally run like goin fast n stuff but then 3 minutes later it just turned off for some reason. I really want to get it running so i can take it to my local BMX track to do some jumps n stuff so PLEASE help me guys! Should i just get a new savage or rotor start whatever its called? I'm thinking of a HPI Baja 5d. Are they any good? P.S I bought new fuel and a new glow plug and i primed it when i started the Savage and also the battries on the remote and the receiver are fine.
Thanks!!!! :D

There could be many simple reasons for this. First, how hot was the engine when it shut off? It's possible you could be too lean.
Or, just to confuse you, it could be too rich and you might have flooded it. Either way, I'd make sure the needle valves are set at factory recommended settings. Then take your time and get it restarted and running. Then tune it for speed. Just make sure you don't let it run too hot.

Hey,
Well i dont think its overheating because when i touch the engine i dont have to take my hand of. Its just warm. With the flooding bit i think that it could of been flooded because when i tried to start it again i could freely pull the starter up and it would just sound like it was flooded. How do i set the needle valves at factory recommended settings? What are needle valves anyway?
Thanks

Best bet is to get the manual online and that should explain in detail what tuning the carb will do as well as identify which parts are what. Alternatively just use the search and most every part of just about all nitros made have been photographed and explained in one thread or another.
Good luck.

Ok i just started up my savage and it was working fine i ran it up my road a couple of times(a guy came out of his house and got pissed but lol) and it worked perfectly no shutting down it was AWESOME!!!!!!. Then i looked at the tank and there was a tink bit of nitro left in the tank so i went back down to my house then it turned off because there was no petrol left which is totally normal. Then i tried turning it back on and it didnt work. Sounded like it was flooded? Anybody know what went wrong? Is this normal? I've done this before and it happened again.

Then i came back about 2 hours later tried to start it and it didnt work tried 5 times then the 5th time u could pull the pull start freely like without strength.
Anyone know what the problem is?
