How fast is the hpi rtr rs4 3 evo strait out of the box, honestly?
Do you guys recamend this car for a person who is not new to nitro but is new to on-road cars? If someone could answer my ?'s they would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

It may run around 40mph not sure on the evo?I have the RTR3 and 3SS. I love em they are very easy to find parts for and work on either upgrading or maintaince. They are dependable, fast, low maintaince, tough, affordable cars. And with cash and time they can be turned into a serious racer!:winnar:

i have an evo and while i dont have a speed gun i can just say that it is one work of art it will scream down the street it has all of the characteristics of those that jonser has already said. on the first night i had my car some fool messed with my carb and it was set to go full throttle some how and as soon as i hit the roto start zoom it hit a car wheel and then proceeded down the street under a neighbors gate. all i broke was the front "c-hub" and this all happened in a matter of seconds so the car was goin pretty fast. i still can't go full throttle when I'm going up and down my street LOL

I recommend this car to most people. I have the Type SS and love it. Of course I have a little money into mine but it's plenty fast out of the box. I don't have much expereince with the new T-15 engine but I can attest that is a way better option than the old 15FE that came with it. Newayz I would venture to say it will do between 35-40mph out of the box. Never listen to manufacturer top speed claims. Most of them are B.S.

My first post on RC Nitro Talk! RCs have recently taken over my life.. and my bank account. But I'm having fun with it!

A buddy of mine got an Evo a couple of weeks ago and I got my SS just after him... We were in a parking lot and some cop came up to see what was going on. He was cool.. he clocked the Evo for us. A 100% stock Evo did 40mph exactly on his radar gun. I had just gotten my SS, so I didn't get to radar it.

Since then, the Evo has the HPI air filter and lighter flywheel and it does like 2 or 3 mph faster than my SS. I just have the HPI air filter. His Evo is running a lot faster now, you can just hear it. My motor has had a 1/2 gallon through it, and his almost 1 gallon. Do these motors start to get looser and make a little more power, like most 1:1 car engines do? My SS just doesn't seem to be turning the same RPMs as the Evos, when it's rated at a higher max RPM.

Yours honestly should have more top end than his. Engine alone should do it. Is your shift point set really late for any reason. Just thinking of how to try to get you there faser. You could also try to lean the High speed needle just a little bit. That might do the trick for you. Good to hear good things about the new T-15 engine being a runner. I have been wondering about that.

Yeah, I expected the Evo to have a little more low end acceleration, since it's torquier, but I thought my SS should walk it on the high end... it's rated at 6,000 more RPM.

I have the Evo on video doing a highspeed fly by when it was stock and it sounded like my SS does now. But the other night, damn, his car seems to fly now by just adding that filter and flywheel.

I've been playing with the HSN, it's pretty much set at 260 degrees with the body on.

Well killer if he is using a lighter flywheel he is able to actually acheive more rpm than he could before he got one. Thus making his engine overall faster. Again with improved air effeceincy this will make it possible. See your engine being a 12 should load up faster. Probably not on the top end would you have him. Not sure. You should think about a lighter flywheel as well if your goal is to beat him. Also think about a racing clutch. It should honestly help. Later

I am looking at the specs of the RS4 Evo RTR and the RS4 SS kit and the Evo has a bigger motor.

Shouldn't the Evo be faster than the SS?

What is the HP rating of the T-15 in the Evo?

Newnitrofan, thanks. Yeah, a racing clutch would help for sure. This stock one (while wearing some and gripping a little better now) grips way to low and the car is a little slow off the line with the .12.

Rossb, HPI lists the T-15 at 1.2hp @ 29,000 RPM. They say the SS has "1+ hp!" They don't list a real number because it probably makes like 1.01 hp.

The few Evos I've ran around with in my SS are actually a tiny bit faster. I shouldn't conclude that all are faster since I've only raced two, but in my experience the Evo is for sure torquier and accelerates quicker.

Personally If I had it to do over again this month I would still pick the SS. I just like to put a kit together. If I was picking as far as the evo or SS as far as engine go's well I just don't know enough about the new 15. I would look at it heavily. Honestly from what I can see the EVO would probably be the way to go.

if you want a kit then just get the evo take it apart and then put it all back together LOL:cheers:

Fridge I already have the SS and it's put together already have had the car over a year. Actually I'm going to be getting rid of it at this point. Takin off all of the upgrade parts selling them off and putting it back to stock.

nitrofan
