Ok, total newbee here my car is all put together and it starts but(the big but) I'm not sure if my throttle and brake linkage is set right like i said before totally new to this here is how it goes
1. starts and idles
2. can drive around with out stalling
3. try to brake with it IT STALLS (for me to brake i push the trigger all the way foward)
does this mean the carb is closing all the way that is what i was thinking it was doing
4 Rinse and repeat with no probs

one more thing I'm not sure what to call it yet but when i give it some gas some smoke comes out does that mean it is to rich or what

please help I'm really excited to drive this thing I'm totally wanted to get into this thanks in advance

I'm sorry if there is an officall thread for this already

Your idle speed screw needs to be turn clockwise to prevent the carb from closing when you apply the brakes. I know on the T-15 version (MT2) that I have it really helped having a throttle return spring to prevent idle speed problems...

As for the smoke, have you broken the engine in yet? HPI sets their stuff really rich out of the box. I couldn't even break in my Savage without adjusting the mixture a bit to keep it running.

Just make sure you are using a quality fuel with enough lubricant percentage in it and tune for good temperatures and performance. I would err on the slow/rich side right now just until you get more knowledge about your ride. It takes time, but after a year in the hobby I can easily tell by the sound of my engine what it needs for tuning

Cool i will have to try that i have not messed with the idle screw yet thanks

It does sounds like the idle screw. Remove the air cleaner. When you look down into the carb, there should be a 1mm opening in the throttle body when you apply the brakes. That will make sure the car will remain at idle when you brake. You should be all set if you make that adjustment.
And like Mustang said, if this is a new engine and not broken in, you want to keep the needles rich for a while to help seat the piston and sleeve. If you look in the manual that came with the truck, it will show you how to make sure the needles are set where they need to be and will also detail the break-in instructions for that engine.

I am so at my end with this breaking issue I'm having or the lack of brakes really i have none and can't figure it out when i push the trigger foward to brake my servo does not move far enough to engage the brake if i move the linkage so it moves far enough the carb is open way to far I'm so dumb about this (such a rookie) i hope somecan help me out thanks in advance

Sounds like the end point adjustment (if there is one) is adjusted wrong. Can you get full throttle?

ok. there is a round piece of plastic on the rod engaing the brakes, that is the brake adjustment.

with the radio on and the servo in the idle position, tighten that adjuster to just touch the brake arm. when you "push forward" on the trigger, it should engage the brakes.

I have the MT2 18SS and lock the wheels up with the stock brakes.

you know what i dont think so
how do you set the servo to its middle postion
do you just turn on the radio and servo and cycle through throttle and brake and when you are not is that the middle
