My new RS4 18ss came with the Ford GT body. This body came with "light buckets". What is the point of those and when would they be used?

I think I figured it out. I mask the headlight area on the body when painting to keep it clear. I mount the bucket underneath (with light bulb decal) for a 3-D look.

Yes, you mask the light area, then paint the light buckets, I like to use chrome. Then you use shoo goo to glue them to the inside of the body after you are done painting the body and remove the mask. You dont use the headlight decal if you use the light buckets.

What is Shoe Goo? The buckets came with double backed tape to stick them on. They also came with light decals specifically for use with the buckets. Basically there are two sets of headlight decals, one for the buckets and one for just the flat body (when not using the buckets). See below, the car has buckets for both the headlights and driving lights. The red arrows point to the decals for the headlights and driving lights when not using the buckets. The blue arrows are the decals for both sets of lights when using the buckets.

(Edit) - Just found a link for Shoe Goo. Looks like a good idea, I can probably use that to keep the shaker hood on my CUDA. That double sided tape is not able to hold the hood on.

yes, the ones with the blue arrows are the ones you will use, they apply to the light bucket themselves, not to the car. Go to wal-mart, in the shoe section you will find shoo goo, don't buy it from a hobby shop, it is much more expensive there. A big tube at wal-mart will cost around 3 bucks. It also works great for fixing damaged bodies. I have used it on all the bodies I have done with light buckets, none have ever fallen off.

I got Shoe Goo @ Walmart.

It looks like the lower decals on that sheet (just the frame with the yellow turn lights) get applied on the body. The others get applied on the bucket.
