Well I bought a new HPI 5.9 engine for my savage 25.I need to know how to
break it in correctly and if there are any speacial parts I will need.It came with the oneway shaft but not the roto start back plate. Will the back plate work off .25 work?Any info will of great help!!!!!!!

The LHS only carries Byrons I think. But 20% for sure .

also what is good temp for running this 5.9?

make sure you run odonnell 20% in it!!!

thats the stupidest thing to do in a break in is run odonnell's fuel. your break in make sure u use fuel that has alot of oil in it like blue thunder trinity etcc.. you want as much oil in the motor during your break in. odonnell's hardly has any oil worst thing for your truck in a break in.

O'donnell 20% has 12% oil i'm sure. That's all you need. You don't need a jacked up oil % to break in an engine. People break in high compression race engines with fuel that has 8% or 11% oil and they get a lot of life out of them all time.

thats not true at all odonnells is a racing fuel its more gas then oil. using odonnells on a break in is the worst thing for your engine. using odonnells on a break in is just like going from 5 quarts in your car to 3 quarts you aint making it home. trust me i work at a hobby store i know what I'm talking about! about 75% of the motors that i rebuilt were from using odonnells on a break in. piston shrinks piston cracks in half. after you have broke in your car/ truck with a higher oil % then you can use odonnells.

ok I bought Byron 20% -12% oil that's all I can get within 85 miles of my house.I haven't received the engine yet .The link above sounds similar to how Traxxas recommended to
break -in my sons 2.5 nitro rustler.I broke it in by the book and have run over 3 gallons through it and still runs as good as the day I got it.I used Traxxas top fuel the whole time
with/out any temp problems.

My LHS quit selling the the Traxxas Top Fuel so I can only get Byrons. That is if you replying to me ..

got the engine yesterday and old ones out ready to put in new.

put the engine in but only had a pull start $25 from LHS.It lasted about 15 pulls and broke.
What junk.so I took it out and waiting for the rotostart back plate to end on ebay.I mounted it on work bench and used a socket and fired it up to see if I could and it is awesome .Can't wait.Hope I don't tear up the savage 25 drive train on first run !!!!!!
