For the price it will be good for the simple fact of having a 2.4 radio. Other than that I have no idea what features it has such as EPA's and so on but yea I'm sure its good for a step up from AM/FM...

is EPA necessary if you have a stock truck and just bashing?

EPA's are just a really good thing to have, being able to set the end points for your steering and throttle servo's will save their lives...But I dont think the stock radio's have them so its prolly not a big deal.

If you want I have a brand new HPI 2.4 Radio that I pulled from a savage x I will sell to you. I run the traxxas 2.4 so I have no need for the HPI radio.

Just an FYI, the one linked in the auction does indeed have EPA settings. There's an onboard tool in the base that you use to adjust these settings via the four pots olong the top forward edge of the radio (the four dark holes you see in the photo)...

HTH...

I am in the process of bringing my old Savage X back from the dead. I found that the anteana wire on the receiver is severed about half way up. I was wondering if I could just get the TF20 2.4 receiver and bind it to the transmitter of my Savage XL which has the TF20 2.4 sytem already instead of buying another radio and receiver. It would be easier if could just use one radio for both trucks since I can't drive them both at the same time anyway.

I just ordered the FlySky gt3b for 35 dollars, i havent got a chance to use it yet, but everyone i talk to say they are great radios,.....just my .02

The Flysky isn't a bad radio. A little slow, but fine for bashing. You'll find a few minor issues with it, but if you hit the Google you can find a rather large forum post full of mods/firmware updates, etc. for it. Or PM me and I'll give you the site info...

A little slow? i am thinking of buying the FS GT2B, but after reading your post i might get the basic futaba, what do you mean slow?

Slow, as in response time. Check out the listed response time of the radios you're thinking of buying. Again, as a basher, it really isn't an issue, but I know guys who have tried to race with it and can really tell the difference. Of course if you're using a stock RTR radio like a Traxxas TQ, it might even be a bit faster than what you have now. But comparing it to the more populaur racing radios (KO, Spectrum, Futaba, etc.) it takes longer from the point you turn the wheel or squeeze the throttle to see the vehicle's servos/motor react.

Cwal, sorry, we got a little O/T on your post there. To answer your question, as long as your current radio is multi-model capable (not sure about HPI's older 2.4 radios) then all you have to do is get a new receiver. I'd give HPI tech support a quick call to verify the radio you have (by model and serial number) does have multi-model memory. Then you should be good to go.
