How will I know?

Ok, I've done the FOC on my tmaxx. The problem I had was getting the driveshaft out. I didn't think about it till later but, the chassis is aluminum so it must be different than the stock because they would barely come out. I had to pry them apart near the transmission. What a pain in the butt!! Anyway, how will I know if everything is working right? I mean is there anything I should do before I try to start the thing?:madface:

Spin the spur gear. It will spin freely in one direction, spin it the other direction and it should turn your drive shafts thus turning the wheels. If it does, you know atleast things are meshing. As far as being safe to run, guess there is only one way to know for sure........

Kelly, the shafts are a pain even in the stock chassis. There is not a heck of a lot of room to get to them. There is a trick to it, but since you got it together alright, it is moot now.

The spur gear check will tell you a lot. First, you should not hear any unusual noises. You might hear the spur and CB making a bit of noise, but nothing really from inside the tranny.

Also, I may have it wrong as it has been awhile since I have dealt with a T-Maxx trans converted to FOC, but once you do the FOC, the spur will move either direction and turn the wheels. I think this is because you removed the additional clutches in the trans that allowed reverse. Or it may be the other way around. Either way, you won't have as much jitter on starts as the second set of clutches are gone.

I just did the FOC on my Maxx and the wheels turn when the spur of spun in ONE direction. When spun in the opposite direction it just spins freely.
