Those of you that have those high powered motors in your Savage... Collari 30, SH .28, STS .28, Nova .28, Picco .27, Wasp .28, etc...how is your drivetrain holding up?

I'm gonna get a beasty engine sometime soon and want to know what to expect. I did the 4 spider mod.

Will those engines tear up a stock tranny? drive shafts? cups?..what can i expect to happen to a stock drivetrain other than the spider mod?

the cups will start to get worn but you can get some heavy duty drive cups.
the hexes on the wheels might strip if it is the stock hpi wheels but you can get some better wheels like pro line 40 series ect.
the rest should be ok. but if you do get a more powerful motor i would get some heavy duty drive cups and dog bones. the tranny should be ok.

i am not sure about the clutch i changed mine before i changed the engine. a set of aluminum clutch shoes would last longer and give you better pull aways.

The stock clutch will hold up for a while. I have the xtm 247 pro motor and on my 3rd race with it i tore up the tranny. And then the cups did eventually start to go, but i am still running stock cups.

i worry about the stock dog bones snapping before the tranny or drive cups going. tuned properly u can snap a dog bone with the s25 or even some .21's. if u have the dough, consider buying the MIP or RD logics CVD's. i have had both and both held up fine.
