tmaxx 4909 3.3 aluminum everything, failsafe ect.

My antena has been road rashed 1 time to many, I keep soldering it back together. My range is noticably reduced.

Rather than replace the receiver with a factory one.... can I extend the range with another radio / receiver combo?

I am not looking to spend a fortune as I rarely get to play anymore.

New factory combo on ebay goes for around $30

Whats the deal with the 2.4 jobs? just better reception? or extended range as well?

2.4ghz is the way to go. I don't know if they have better range, but forget about interference.
