ok i just got a axial 28rr many pepole tell me diffrent ways to break this in.one i can't use the pullstart it seizes at tdc, so i went to a roto start.the roto start wont turn it either.but i used a drill with the roto start wand and it started.should i run 2 tanks just at idel like the book says or go half throttle for 2 tanks:second_place:

wats up dude i got the same engine on my savage and its running hard i just ran it at idle for 2 tanks and then at half throttle for another two then i began tunning it with about another 2 to 3 tanks i adjusted it so how i liked its i like running it rich but it still runs good

ok maybe u can help i just got my axial 28rr first start broke the pullstart then went to the rotostart and heated the motor got it running.the next day i snaped the rotostart backplate.if i add a head shim that should lower compression right?so it might be easyer to start then after break in i can remove it any ideas:angry:

Reshim the head, and leave it when you break it in. Also, loosen the glow plug before starting the motor, then when it is started, tighten the plug. It drops the compression when starting it so it is easier on the piston, sleeve, and con rod.

ok i put a xtra shim on the head lossend the glow plug heated the head and snaped my rotostart back plate now thats 2 rotostarts and2 pullstarts i broke and it only ran for 5 min

Heatng the motor will help the pinch relax and loosen the plug too release the compression. The shim should work on the compression. I find the first few times of start up is the hardest but after a few tanks it gets better. For break in, look at the (Heat Cycle) great system. My motor i still have to loosen the plug after 5 gallons. good luck

Sounds like you didn't loosen the plug enough. Go a good full turn or so. Heating the head up only works if you can get it up to 200 degrees. A hair dryer doesn't cut it on a new bb.
