You get a big block engine. You get other cool hopup parts in addition to your conversion kit. Just buy any good clutch for your big new engine and get an RRP slipper cuz you've heard great stuff about them. Wonder later why you can't find a clutch bell.

1/10 scale vehicles like the Maxx use clutch bells and spur gears that are 32 pitch SAE.

1/8 scale vehicles and 1/8 scale clutches are 32 pitch metric.

These two pitches do not mesh.

If you buy a 1/10 scale clutch for a big block engine you'll need a spacer behind the flywheel and your 1/10 32P SAE bells and spurs will work fine.

If you buy a 1/8 scale clutch it bolts right up to the larger mill but you will need an 1/8 scale bell AND a 32P metric spur gear.

You truly wise men may learn from my experience.

good information man. i learned something! i saw the spacer thing in another thread, but this information brings it full circle.

Yes Sir, very helpfull indeed. One question though, what does the spacer behind the flywheel look like? Is it just a washer? Anyone have a link?

ImBroken bought one for his conversion. I'm gonna guess it's a cylindrical spacer that sits behind the split cone.

The guys over at www.rc-solutions.com will sell you one I'm sure! Just call them up and tell the RCNitroTalk.com sent ya.

Its a bit thicker than a washer and beefier too. Not to mention, the perfect thickness

RC-Solutions hooked me up the other day.... The spacer & clutch nut cost me $15 shipped... (not a bargain), but it worked like a charm.... It is a cylindrical 3/16th's long spacer that slides over the shaft perfectly...(no play). The split cone & flywheel slide butt up against the spacer making this R/C'er very happy... Lines the cb & shoes up perfectly.... I'll get some pics later....

Here's a pic of the RC-Solutions spacer installed...

Ofna makes a nitro engine clutch setup kit, part # 10099, that has the right sized spacers in different thicknesses. I've been using the spacers in this kit on all kinds of projects. you just stack a few spacers up until you get it setup right. check it out here.

Also if you really want to step up to an 1/8 sclae clutch go to strobe-rc.com and get the slipper clutch sold there. it uses a 1/8 scle ofna spur which allows 1/8 scle clutches and clutchbells. I've had mine for probably 1.5 years now and I love it. Here is an old pic of mine with an mp 7.5 buggy clutch and clutchbell.

Here's another thing not to do.

Don't believe all of Traxxas' documentation.

Their parts breakdown clearly specs two bearings for the stock clutch bell as 5x10mm.

Bullshit.

I put calipers on 'em. They're 5mm ID but they're not 10mm OD. They're either 11mm or 7/16". Hard to tell even with calipers as there's only 4.43 thousandths of an inch difference between 11mm and 7/16". I'm guessing hybrid SAE/metric bearings don't exist so I'll say the bearings are 5x11mm.

Acer Racing knew the correct sizes. I bought their kit. They didn't list sizes but they provided the correct bearings for the T-Maxx. None of these were 5x10mm.

I don't own a T-Maxx but it seems to be that this should be a critical item in a conversion kit.
