Well, when the time comes for a rebuild, you'll have to decide if you want more power or not. All 2.5's are under powered on a Maxx. If you had a smaller vehicle and wanted to use this engine, it would probably work out well for you. With any cheap engines, you'll find ones that are more finicky than others. Yours sounds like a good one. It's really personal choice.

so I shouldn't chuck it and I should just replace the piston and sleeve and cooling head? This engine isn't in bad shape. It has pretty good compression still

find ya a decent on road chassis or stadium truck chassis and rebuild the 2.5 and build ya a nice little runner with it, then go ahead and splurge the cash on a nice os 18 or lrp 18 and get that little more power and those motors hold tunes like nothin else! plus with that power you'll love your maxx even more! 0.02

Wow I didn't know I could do all that with my old 2.5 engine. That all sounds greatbut now I'll need a job so I can actually do it! It sounds like a great winter project. Winter is gonna be here soon so i'll need a source of income fast. It sucks bein 16 now if u r lookin for a job -.-

As long as your out going and have a good attitude, you'll be able to find a job. Pizza delivery, gas station, fast food, ect... If you get a crappy job, just remember why your there. Think about your projects and nothing will seem that bad. A ruslter or stampede roller would be a nice start to a budget-friendly project. Being that these trucks are designed for the 2.5's, parts are be cheap and readily available.

Yea I've gotten that lecture plenty of times before. I guess i'll need to look harder. Maybe I'll walk home from school tomorrow and stop at every single store on the way home and see if they r hiring and make a list of all the stores hiring. Or I could try and get a job where my girlfriend works lol

those don't sound like bad chassis to start on for my first build
