And have you ever rebuilt a TRX25?

There's an industry rule of thumb that goes "If the cost to repair exceeds half of new then it's time for a replacement."

The reciprocating assembly for a TRX25 from Traxxas (piston, sleeve, rod, pin and clips) costs $90.00. A Sirio 18TX costs around $190.00.

Are the TRX25 pistons, sleeves and rods like no other? Or has someone disassembled another engine and noted that the piston, rod and sleeve were an exact match to the TRX25.

I'm just curious.

Maybe I should post this in the Traxxas forum... :hammer: :hehe:

If the rotating asembley is that much use Traxxas return/trade thing. You send your 2.5 to Traxxas and for $105 they send you a brand new 2.5
oops I forgot your Q. I have rebuilt about 8 engines

In most cases I just buy a new engine. I have not bought anything over $200 and allot of these engines piston/sleeves cost well over 50% so, IMO it's better to just get a new one! The cheapest rebuild I could do out of my 12 egines is my Fantom .27 at $47 for a P/S. All the rest are $70 or more.

I've never rebuilt any of my engines...it usually costs more than it's worth..but then again, i've never ran an engine to the point that it won't run.
