I'm thinking about gettin my son a savage for his 11th bday. Heres my problem. I'm into high speed on road cars and when he sees how fast my on roads go, hes going to want his truck to go that fast too. The reason I want to get him a monster truck is, I dont think I can afford to keep buying parts when he crashes it. Thats why I want to get him something a little more durable....MONSTER TRUCK....which can take the abuse. So how fast do these things go out the box? and how fast "practically" can I get them to go?

I put a VSM on my Savage, but it's currently in the garage and I haven't gotten to really see the results. But, realisticly, if he's gonna drive it offroad, it'll go alot faster that you think. Onroad, probably 30 to 35. The MT's aren't really set up for onroad out of the box, and will tend to flip and roll with all the traction and high CG if driven agressively on pavement. I'll try to get my savage back in action and post the VSM readings for ya soon.

If you are really interested in speed then you willl need to spend some cash on gearing. Normally a MT is made for low end grunt and mid range power. real power can be found with a VSM and then changing out things. GL!!

savages are pretty fast for a monster truck, but hell if you want fast! add a .27 engine on there and man u got speed! :hehe:

according to my VSM 31 mph but I'm not sure its setup 100 %correctly.
