Hello all

what do you guys do to clean your trucks? i use elbow grease but find that it dosnt clean every thing, is there a spray or something that is good?

Thanks guys

I use a spray bottle of denatured alcohol, a toothbrush (use your wife's or sister's, they taste bad afterward) paper towels and cotton swabs.

When it's time to rebuild a vehicle, I'll break it down and clean each part in the process.
It's pure elbow grease. I use a spray bottle of Windex, Nitro Blaster where necessary, paper towels, cotton swabs and sometimes things like toothpicks (for gears with grease build up).
One buddy of mine (until his wife found out) used to put plastic parts like A-arms or bulkheads (no metal, no screws etc) into the dishwasher, pulling them out before it hit the dry (heat) cycle. You would be amazed how clean these parts came out. If it wasn't for scratches, you couldn't tell them from brand new.

Air Compressor, I must have. I always tear them completely apart and hand wash each part every two hours of runing. Takes me 14 hours, my rigs hardly ever break though!
Power screwdriver with metric drivers is on my Christmas list too. That will cut about 7 hours out!

Hey Scrogg, Check one of these out. I picked one up, it's great. You can dial the torque down real low for when screws go into plastic, and turn it up for the bigger stuff. It also has a LED ligh on it, which I didn't think much about but now I really like it.

Check it out.

I think I picked mine up at Home depot one night for $25 or so. I also bought a 2 or 3 inch length tip with the grooev in it so locks in. This works well for all the screws.

Like I said, the light is cool (event though my work area is well it, it's still a but hard to see in the tight spots some time).

One other benefit of the gun is that the RPMs are on the slower side - but this is good, as it gives you control.

Mine now lives in my road box - lol.

Back to the original subject - sorry edlarge, didn't mean to change the subject of your post.

Typically, I pull the lid off, squirt both sides with some scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner, wipe it with a brush, then set it aside.

I do the same to the rest of the truck (I put a baggie over the air filter), then I squirt the wheels, suspension, etc with the scrubbing bubbles, wipe it with a brush, then squirt it down - NOTE: I avoid the electronics though.

I then blow it all dry with compressed air. Turns out looking like new

I then squirt down the recommended pivot points, etc with some WD40.

This may not be the right way, but no problems so far.

Thanks all, good information,

mine gets caped in mud and rubbish so need to keep it all cleaned i think, will try some of what you have suggested

is the scrubbing bubbles a product name?

Yeah,

It's just a spray bathroom cleaner that breaks up dirt after you spray it on

ah ok, will have a look for a product over here that is similar then. thanks again

I take the truck partially apart(electronics off also) and spray some WD40. let it sit, brush the parts off with a toothbrush. After, if you got an air compressor, use it to dry it off, if not use a paper towel. The plastic get a clean and shiny look.:D

brake cleaner is almost the same as nitro blaster and its cheaper..the non chlorinated is the one i use.and i use simple green with the help of an air compressor.then finish up with wd40 for shine finish.

Has anyone got advice on an air compressor to buy? sounds like i could do with one of these.

thanksagain
