i see a lot of posts about diff size engines and big block... i got a revo 3.3 out of the box...
is that not a big block ?

and whats the difference?

i also see stuff about removing the ez start and reverse? what are the pros and cons of doing this? is this all about weight? for what I'm doing it doesn't seem to matter, i like the reverse , eazy start and controlling it so far is fast enough for a while.

The Revo's 3.3 is also known as .20 and is considered a small block. Big blocks are usually considered to be anything over .21.

The reason for removing reverse from the transmission is to make it sturdier. In order to run a big block reverse really should go. This allows for the further installation of a center diff and a rear brake for better brake bias adjustment as well as better braking over all.

I used the EZ-Start the entire time my Revo ran nitro. I found it was easier for me to just carry the wand to restart my truck.

Once you get over .21 it can be a mid block or a big block. The mid blocks are fairly new on the scene and they're basically a big block on the inside but will fit into a smaller space and usually have a smaller bolt pattern.

Example: A picco .26 mid block fits where a big block .21 will be tight or not fit at all. The largest mid block I'm aware of is a .27.

"How do engine sizes work" Bore x stroke :D Well as hamz said the 3.3 is a .20 witch is a small block. A big block will be .21+. And as revomaxx said There are also mid blocks with big block internals. If you put a bigger engine in your revo it would probably be a midblock.

Oh and I have used many start methods (box,pull,ez2,roto) and I would say just keep the easy start. I have 16 of them not a single one of them has ever gone bad either. Only problem will be the wires to the moter if you dont take care sliding them on and off. The reverse well to be honest my revo is my first rc to ever have it besides the mini T. But the do crunch up.

I got mine without reverse, and I decided that I hate chasing my truck when it gets stuck against a tree. But it is known to be the weakest link in the drive train, and a lot of people opt for the FOC (forward only conversion) to strenghten it, especially when going to a .21 or bigger engine
